Rat King's Crew item for the quest

I have the Rat King's Crew quest on my list, according to the Triumphs I've done the Enemy of my Enemy quest, so I should have the "Rat King's Crew" item needed for the first step (the 3 patrols)... but I don't have that sidearm, not in my inventory nor in my collections.

Is the sidearm named something else? If not, how can I get it again?

My mistake, mixed up rat king and strum quests, both useless.

call someone who plays destiny 2 to help you in this mission.

You just need to do the patrol (and follow-up steps) with either someone who have this quest, or someone who have the Rat King sidearm (IE : someone who finished this quest).
In the second case, I don't think the person need to have it in inventory (but better safe than sorry).

Rat King is a group weapon. All of its perks are tied to others also using it.

So, a solo rat king is almost pointless, but in a group... I have heard of a raid team using just Rat Kings to defeat Riven in the Last Wish

No clue on validity though.

I have this quest too, so if you want to add feel free. If you know one other person who has it too even better. I have no idea how to add to fire team though.

If you've got the quest, that's all you need. There's no 'item' you have to use during it. It's just that you have to do the steps as a fireteam with someone else who is also doing the quest.

So, the other person in the fireteam cannot be someone who already completed the quest, it has to be someone who is also doing the quest at the same time?

- I completed the Titan "Enemy of my Enemy" mission that presumably gives you the weapon to use in the quest (whatever it is called... I can find nothing in my vault with the name "Rat King's Crew" and I don't think I dismantled any weapon I don't already have). Can someone tell me the exact name of the weapon I am supposed to have equipped?

- I have the Rat King's Quest in my list.

- I fireteamed with another person and did the first patrol (which is the first step according to my current quest riddle) and... the counter remained at 0/3.

I am now watching the video from MooDie in hopes it will give further clues. Interestingly that is the same guide I was following, but I had not watched the video.

EDIT:
- Very interesting. I did not get a Rat King's Crew item in my primaries list. Instead I got a quest by that name in my quests list.
- Also, I don't remember if I saw Cayde and got that "Patrols" mission in the EDZ. I probably did but I can't confirm it.

All people in the fireteam need to have the quest too to my knowledge, if not then patrols will not register.

I can't do the quest unless I find a fireteam with the same quest doing the patrols to begin with.

You don't get a weapon and you don't get an item, just the quest, that's all you need.

I'm....60% sure that the quest can also progress if one of the other fireteam members has actually completed the whole quest and has the Rat King sidearm equipped. So if they have completed it, they can still help by bringing the weapon along.

If they weren't also working on the Rat King's Crew quest, or be using Rat King itself (if what I said above is right), then it won't ever count.
