You got 2 options..
You either kill the champion before it shields, or you destroy the shield quickly then kill it.
That's the whole point of NF-strikes....it forces you to use a weapon you might not be comfortable with OR risk your team bringing such a weapon OR have a harder time than normal. The weapon in question changes each season....last season you could put Anti-barrier on AR's...this season it's Scoutrifles (and Pulse rifles)...it keeps the game fresh if you ask me.
Nothing personal but it's super annoying to have both of your teammates die every time to an unstoppable ogre when all they had to do is use the mod. I don't like scout or pulse rifles but if that's what it takes, that's what I'll do.
tl;dr: for random matchmaking it's just super dumb mechanic imho.
Yes that's what I mean. In MM it should either take it into account so all mods are in the fireteam at least once or force all players to use both mods but not let you get in there without any. In the later strikes it's no problem since you have to assemble your own fireteam, so coordination is more of a thing.
P.S. (and off-topic): I think getting players out of their comfort zone is a good thing actually, since you might actually find something you enjoy more than your old ways but this is a really ham-fisted and not well explained attempt at doing this. Zelda BotW kinda tried it with the breaking weapons and it's also completely dumb. MHW does it by making all weapons actually cool and engaging to play, which is why I am now known as "King of the Stabby-Stick" by my friends. (Lance Main anyone?)
