Stuck on Quest "The Journey" (don't own Shadowkeep, bug?)

Fellow Guardians,

I need your help.

So I was yesterday on Moon to hand over a daily gift to Eris. Though there was a Portal to her right. I was curious and jumped through. Landed at a Ceremony/Burial area(?).
There were statues and in the distance a Pyramid-shaped thingy. I was able to interact with the statues around that spawned spawned a chest. I opened the chest and the Quest "The Journey" started...

The thing is, I don't own Shadowkeep!

I started searching about what this quest is about (Xenophage - Exotic Machinegun).
So I watched a guide by "360GameTV" on Youtube.
Followed the order to light up the lights.
Worked my way through the Lost Sectors to solve the puzzles and get Path hints.

Now I hit a wall, because I have to enter, as it seems, a Shadowkeep DLC Owner locked Raid?

Am I missing something here? Is this a bug that I initially was able to get into that area with the statues and activated the quest?

Xenophage is a quest that everyone could get, but not complete. It requires completion of a puzzle in the Pit of Heresy dungeon, which is Shadowkeep exclusive. You will have that in your pursuits until you finish it, I'm afraid.

wait do you need to buy the shadowkeep campaign only or do you have to buy the extras as well cause I bought shadowkeep and I was stuck at the pit of heresy puzzle in the dungeon?

No, the fact that you don't own the relevant expansion has stopped you from completing the quest.

wdym relevant, did I need to buy Shadowkeep when it came out? or is there something I am missing?

Then what’s the problem? If you have Shadowkeep then you can complete the quest.

You need to complete shadowkeep's campaign before you can do pit of heresy, afterwards you should be able to grab a short quest from Eris Morn that unlocks the pit of heresy dungeon so you can continue xeno's quest

I finished the campaign about 2 weeks ago, but not sure about the challenge you're talking about. What is the challenged called? Also how do I unlock the Luna's Calling cause I see it on the map when hovering over her location?
