Where do you buy ammo

I've got 250,000 blue salt but I'm always out of ammo and even in PVP it spawns me without any ammo at all
And melting down guns only gives you more blue salt instead of ammo that I desperately need

You cant, that was a destiny 1 mechanic, use the glimmer to buy bounties from Eva or resources from the spider, always keep around 100k, never get max.

Power weapons start with no ammo in pvp you have to get the ammo in the match or off other down players, energy very little and you get more off downed players however kinetic you should start with full.

If you're getting 0 ammo for all then that's probably a bug.

I've got 250k and finding rare guns and tripping over em cause there's so many of them that drop but I can't buy ammo?

No buying ammo here. If you have no ammo then you're probably using 2 guns using green ammo.

Trying to grind ammo from enemies is just going to leave you with less ammo than you started with, it's impossible to fill up on it

No, machine gun ammo is the easiest slot 3 ammo to get
Bazookas are absolutely useless if you can't buy ammo for them, their ammo drops maybe once per ice age
You'll get like 3 rockets, maximum if you're even lucky to begin with

Looking at your other topic I think you're assuming that you can just use your power weapon all the time, of course it's going to run out of ammo, that's when you switch to your kinetic, more power ammo will drop but if you want extra then you'll have to get the scavanger mod for it.

If you want more heavy ammo, use a finisher to spawn more with a heavy ammo finisher mod.

Kinetic ammo drops like crazy, you'd have to spray it needlessly to ever run out. The reason energy and power are limited in pvp because it would be total chaos people spamming grenade launchers etc. sorta like how the Scorched cannon mode is in Crucible. For all PVE content if you really want to be stocked up all the time, eventually you can unlock ammo dispensers in the tribute hall, otherwise hit up the rally flag at public events, those will give you full ammo + super.

always use mods that increase chance to drop heavy ammo or any other ammo type
For me, i use heavy ammo mod on helmet, some grenade launcher scavenger mods..
Heavy ammo drops like crazy for me that way, i can bath in it!
