At that time it was necessary to do strange smears to solve the cabbage problem. Now you have to get your hands around the PC to solve this problem, even if the solution is simple is not right, because I paid for this game, and I have to solve a mess they did after an upgrade? No mention of it, the game today is a bag filled with manure.

my whole settings with quality is reversed all the time I relaunch game like its loading every time the remembered file from somewhere not on my PC. Cause even changed cvars with needed settings are replaced\recreated\redownloaded from somewhere with older remembered file of the settings that were before it.

I highlighted it as a possible solution that was given by a community member. I myself do not work for Bungie or have the ability to say this is the end fix/result.

I’ll update this thread when public information is available.

So I've been having this problem as well. Disappointing that its not just something on my end and its been a issue for several days now. I was excited to get into this game but now I think I'll just wait till they get their ♥♥♥♥ together and fix something that shouldn't be a problem in the first place.

Let me know if it works well for you

Here is a walkthrough without the video:

This worked on Windows 10 and Windows 7 so far, let me know if other versions worked for you.

Make sure the game is closed before starting this and do not skip any step!

1. Click the "Search" icon on the Windows Start screen. Type "%appdata%" and press "Enter."

2. Look for Bungie folder and open all the folders inside till you find 2 or 3 files called cvars.

3. Delete all the cvars files in that location. Don't close that folder window yet.

4. Open Destiny 2.

5. Change all the video settings you want to change, click apply and then close the game.

6. In the same folder where you deleted all the cvars files in step 3 you now need to delete the file that says cvars.old and cvars.tmp (if there's one). Do not delete cvars.xml file.

7. Open/Edit cvars.xml file. (I recommend using Notepad++)

8. Now look for these 2 settings and change the value as described below. (Do not skip changing the value of these 2 settings or it won't work)

<cvar name="force_auto_detect" value="8" />
to
<cvar name="force_auto_detect" value="0" />

and

<cvar name="mouse_smoothing_mode" value="8" />
to
<cvar name="mouse_smoothing_mode" value="0" />

9. Save it and close the editor you were using.

10. Now right click in the cvars.xml file and click Copy. Now paste it in the same folder 2 times. It will look something like this cvars - Copy.xml and cvars - Copy (2).xml.

11. Now for this step you need to make sure that you can see file extensions/file type or else you won't be able to change their file extension/type. If you don't know how to then go here: http://kb.winzip.com/kb/entry/26/ You want to change the name of the 2 new files you just pasted into cvars.tmp and cvar.old so it will look something like this: https://i.imgur.com/wqlCQhi.png

12. Now select all 3 files and right click and click properties. Check Read-Only and click apply and then ok.

13. Open Destiny 2 and you shall have all the settings you have selected previously. Enjoy!

When Bungie fixes this issue you want to revert 1 setting on all 3 files, you want to uncheck Read-Only. Select all 3 files(cvars.xml cvars.old cvars.tmp) > right click > properties > uncheck Read-Only > apply > ok

THANKS

I don't know why everybody's having luck with these fixes. I -had- luck, but every time I turn my computer off and back on, the fixes revert, no matter how I do it, or which files I modify. It's really irritating me, and Bungie needs to fix it. Fast.

can you do one thing after rebooting your computer can you check the settings on all 3 files to see if they have the 2 settings set at 0? force_auto_detect and mouse_smoothing_mode. also see if it's read-only after.
One last thing confirm that the 3 files are the correct file type and not just a rename like in this screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/wqlCQhi.png

I did it twice exactly as described, but it doesn't work. the 3 files in the "prefs" folder remain "read-only" but in the game the graphics setting is reset anyway :steamsad:

Are the file type correct like in this picture: https://i.imgur.com/wqlCQhi.png

Do all 3 files have the exact same settings?

Tell me what you did in each step to see where it went wrong, ill be glad to help.

Some people are skipping setting the mouse_smoothing_mode to 0 which is why it's not working for them.

the video instructions did not work for me either, after each pc restart the options were reset.
but it worked with the pinned written instructions.
I do not understand why, because I did not adhere exactly to the suggestion neither in the video tutorial nor in the written text. :lunar2019shockedpig:

but it seems to be working now, after several days and many restarting the pc, the pc option remains as it was set.

thanks :lunar2019smilingpig:
