Why weapon with lower stats has better damage? Can someone explain it?
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1982086984

I tried these two weapons on the same enemy types. The first one causes 680 points of damage with every bullet. While the second one does 740 damage! But why if the first rifle has better damage stats? It has even higher LEVEL but still does less damage! WTF???

Hancannon max Range - 30m instead of "90" verses

Sniper rifle max Range 100m instead of "90"

I mean like for impact why do they use 10 on both a SMG and Grenade launcher when in reality its 120+ damage per grenade vs 10 damage per shot with a smg.

Was 1-100 just a lazy system ?

What weapons and archetypes are they?
lastbreath Jan 28, 2020 @ 9:46am
First is impulse rifle, the second is machine-gun

auto rifle always had abit lower damage ? because the rapid fire tho.

But here machinegun has higher damage with lower stats!
Illusive Soul Jan 28, 2020 @ 9:52am
machine gun suppose to had hight damage i think ? it using Purple ammo. Auto Rifle and Machine Gun has a Huge difrent,i assume you talking about Auto rifle.

OK, this is not heavy machinegun, it uses usual ammo. This is weapon with fully automatic fire. So, why auto rifle with lower stats has better damage than impulse rifle with better stats and higher level?

Power level bonuses are capped against enemies. Once you are something like 50 power level above an enemy, increasing your power level more doesn't do anything. This keeps you from doing hundreds of percent more damage to enemies in lower level content, such as strikes and earlier raids. Thus, one weapon having a higher power level than another doesn't matter if both put you at least 50 points above the enemy you are shooting.

You also aren't considering weapon types. Different weapons do different amounts of damage, and even among the same weapon classes there are different values based on frame and RPM. I can't see what weapon you are comparing that with, but I can see that they have different frames, and if they are different types of guns (Pulse Rifle and Auto Rifle I would guess from your reply), then that is likely the answer.

Because of high impact reserves pumping up the damage

So what is the reason in that stat bars if they doesn't represent real situation? Why there are comparison windows if they doesn't make correct comparison ?

impact reserve is a perks,it wont show on wepon damage cuz its a "Perks"

Oh shi... I have to check that!

Ok, if we start a chat about weapons... I have revolver and sniper rifle with the same stats. What is better?

IIRC those stats cannot be compared between two different clases of weapons. (Goes for all weapon stats) They are relative numbers, not absolute.

Bungie wepon stat confuse like always.
Ducky Jan 28, 2020 @ 10:17am
Same with bows and sniper rifles.....most bows have even a much higher impact stat than some sniper but bows not even doing half that much dmg as the snipers
DKlimax Jan 28, 2020 @ 10:19am
Also there is another aspect in play: Each armor piece has associated light and each light improves some classes of weapons (besides affecting which mods can be used)
