Um... No? I've been running 144hz since release.
My money's on him being one of the brainlets that has a 144hz monitor, but Windows monitor settings set to 60hz.
Yeah, this is actually a good point that no one has mentioned.
Having a very powerful GPU will help you with higher resolutions. If you want to game in 4K, then just upgrading to a 2080 Super will let you push more pixels. If you want to be pushing 240 FPS, you're gonna need a CPU powerful enough to support that too.
And then come back in a half year and say thx to me.
Then Nvidia drop their next GPU line a few months later and we're back to square one...
A 2070 Super will see some bottlenecking with a 6700k. The 2080 Super would be pretty heavily bottlenecked.
I'd definitely bump up to the 9700k if you're going for high refresh rate.
But it's sooo silky smoooooth...
