New light players - exotics to go for!

I think the best part about the most recent DLC is that it coincides with New Light. So many new players to the game, or returning players. If you're just getting into Destiny, it can be pretty daunting. So many different things to play, and part of it is determining which exotic weapons to get. As a new light player, there are some great exotics you can get. I think the 2 that you want to go after right away are Whisper of the Worm and Outbreak Perfected. Both of these weapons are great in end game content.

If you're having trouble with these, I've started doing PC help streams (mainly a console player, but downloaded the PC version for the new light experience and the silky smooth frames!).

These missions are both very challenging, and you're definitely better off with a fireteam. Hopefully these videos are helpful; I'd be happy to answer any questions.

I really desire the outbreak perfected , try to do solo the mission to get it, darn too hard only got past the ventilation under the ship. New player here. With not a lot of great armors/weapons yet.

You have to get kinda lucky to do this mission solo I think, with ammo drops etc. Which character do you play as? I'd be happy to help - so far I've helped about 20 people get it on PC. Still can't believe the frame rate / visuals...

I'd say Riskrunner is extremely helpful.

Totally agree. There is definitely hidden modifiers in this, as there seems to be a certain degree of match-game in play. I'll be doing another PC help stream tomorrow, would love to help out.

That's awesome man. Yeah if you get these 2 you'll have some good options. Outbreak is actually good in PVP too, IMO.

Yeah! It's like a mini nova bomb. I've gotten smacked by it quite a few times in survival lol.

That's a great sniper to get; one of the hardest hitting weapons in the game. It's a grind to get, and I believe you need Forsaken to get it.

Yeah this is a great exotic to get, because of the changes to Luna Faction and rally barricade. It's a tough mission, but still my favorite moment throughout D2!

Also worth mentioning:
Risk Runner (part of risk/reward quest) is very good for a variety of encounters, especially some of the forges and the zero hour mission for clearing rooms.
Legend of Acrius (Leviathan raid) can be awesome if you manage to get the catalyst for it, which is from prestige leviathan.
Sleeper simulant (lengthy quest on Mars) - not quite as good as the D1 version, but still a great option for new light players.

Legendary:
Escalation Protocol SG - not always available, but still a great weapon to use. Even without some of the bells and whistles of newer SG, it can still shred.
