Machine Gun Frame quest led to paywall(lol)

Correct me if I'm wrong, as the internet will do voraciously, but...

In order to progress in the Black Armory quest, you need a "Mysterious Box" to open with the Black Armory Key, right? And in order to get this "Mysterious Box" you must have Forsaken. Does that mean, anything I've done in this quest is pointless, unless I buy Forsaken now?

Edit: I did get the Machine Gun, but there is a Black Armory Key taking up a slot in my Pursuits tab. Can't trash it.

The box is for Izanagi's Burden exotic sniper rifle and I think it's still bugged and can't be completed

I have the key, not the box. It was automatically given after I forged the first weapon. The key cant be removed because it's part of the quest for the box, and I can't get the box due to the paywall. Reading helps

That box quest (along with two others) SHOULD be in ADA's vendor page at the bottom. You use it after you have the Box quest, but like so many can attest to, them removing the story progression broke the ability to get the last key so you're still not missing out.

The Machine Gun quest doesn't in itself give you the key, the key is part of a separate Exotic Quest. You get the keys when players destroy two drones during the forge ignition, which causes a box to appear at the end - if your team mates had not done that, it would never have appeared. It is not part of the forge quest progression, it's not blocking progress, what you've done so far was done to unlock the forge activities so you can buy frames from Ada-1 to craft the Black Armory weapons.

But as far as the key is concerned, that box/Quest is indeed behind a paywall, as it can only be obtained by Forsaken season pass holders. The keys for it can still be obtained by F2P players, and will sit in their inventory without purpose or a way to dispose of them.
