What makes this game so great?
No, I'm not baiting. This is a genuine question. What is it about this game that you Destiny 2 regulars like so much?

See, I played this game way back when it first went free 2 play on the Blizzo launcher (because I'll give anything a try, especially if it's free!), and played through the campaign with my bro.

I thought it was...alright. Nothing really outstanding.

The gunplay was pretty good, the skill tree system felt kinda shallow and barebones, the loot never really gave me that exciting "wow! this is some pretty cool stuff!" feeling, the enemies all felt like the same dumb grunts, bosses felt like just bullet sponges, graphics were pretty great, the story was kinda lame, the characters weren't all that interesting and kinda forgettable, the molerat marshmallow man bad guy was kinda goofy and like a Saturday morning cartoon villain, it had that thing a lot of games have where your character just kinda stands there silently nodding at the exposition being barked at them, and a day after I finished the campaign I forgot most of what happened.

Maybe the game got better after you beat the story, but if the main game doesn't motivate me to want to play the endgame stuff, I don't really see the reason in doing so.

So, yeah. Maybe this game isn't really for me, but I've played similar games like Borderlands before, and I really liked that one, and the second one even more. I hear things like people playing this game for over a thousand hours and honestly I don't really see why? It just seems to me like one of those games like Fortnite or PUBG or Rainbow Six: Siege that just become super popular, yet when I see gameplay of them (or, if they're free, have actually played myself) I don't really see what people see in them that makes them want to play them all day every day.

So, I'm just curious. What about this game is so great that you, personally, like so much?

Please don't get mad at me, I'm just wondering what this game is like from someone else's perspective.

The game itself is pretty good, but the main reason is playing it with friends.

It's fun, short and simple.
Raids.

I sort of like the power fantasy aspect of it. Charging full speed ahead as I mow down dozens and hundreds of enemies with a wide arsenal of exotic weapons and armor to really feel powerful. At the end of the day, I know that pretty much nothing has been accomplished; the story and lore doesn't grip me, but the action is satisfying enough to warrant frequent play.

If you're not a fan of endless grind loops where the only goal is to get bigger numbers, then the game won't appeal to you.

I see. My brother and I initially played the campaign together, but midway into it I guess he got sick of it so I had to finish the rest of the story myself.

I guess you could say that about most games, though. That they're more fun with friends. The more the merrier, right? :)

Raids in this game are kinda like raids in WoW, right? (I haven't actually done raids in either game, I just am somewhat familiar with the concept).

You're welcome, I guess. :P And thank YOU for telling me why you like it! I appreciate the reply. :)

It is very easy to play, not much of a challenge so its easy just to come in grab a gun and shoot stuff due to the AI just standing there and you can tank any boss just by standing behind a rock in PvE.
Its not really an RPG and the skill trees are pretty lame.
I actually preferred Warframe
So what makes it so great? = Nothing, its not.

Legit nothing the only fun aspect is raids with friends.

-Crcuible is a laggy as mess with cheaters and hackers. Not to mention even though i have a
solid 120 fps sometimes looking down sights i just freeze in place.

-Gambit is a complete ♥♥♥♥ show.

-Story is Meh but doesnt award you at all anymore for completing it

-Strikes are good and a lot of fun so give them that

The only *Enjoyable* Thing is events like what we had recently

Hm. That I can relate to. Like fo example, even though I've already 100%'d it, I still play Doom (2016) every now and then just cuz being a brutal unstoppable killing machine is really satisfying stuff! :D So, that I can understand.

I don't mind grinding, I guess I just need something... I don't know, a little more engaging to keep me doing it? It's kinda hard to explain. In some games I don't mind grinding and in other games I do, so I guess it depends on the game. In general though, I don't dislike it that much. I'm a big fan of JRPGs, which often include a lot of grinding, which I usually don't dislike. I remember playing Earthbound back in the day and walking around in areas where I was overlevelled just to get like 1 XP from the weak enemies. :P Maybe I just don't like the grinding in this game, though... Thanks for your reply, btw!

Ah, I see. I guess that type of game could be appealing to some. :)

I haven't played Warframe very much, I actually just did only one or two long sessions of it, but what little time I played it I liked more than this. Even though it had just about as little story as this game, it was really fun to jump around and do dives and slides and wall jumps and stuff. It was like that one game, Double Action Boogaloo, but in SPACE! I just stopped playing it cuz you apparently can't delete your character to make a new one, and I didn't like the warframe I picked, and I wanted to be the starter electric person instead. I thought you could just delete and make a new character if you didn't like the class you picked like almost every other game ever, but apparently that is not possible for some reason. And I did NOT feel like grinding for hours and days and weeks just to get the materials to craft and play as the character I wanted to.

Thanks for your reply! :D

Ah, I see. So it's not really a game you'd play alone, then? Kinda reminds me of GTA: Online. If it wasn't for my brother coaxing me into playing the heists and missions with him, I probably never would have even played a minute of it. The same mission (go to this place, steal this thing, kill the guys guarding said thing) repeated 1000 times isn't really something I'd choose to play myself.

Thanks for the reply! :)

I agree. I remember Warframe's enemies not being very bright. Maybe in like 10 or 20 years more games will have AI that is not so dumb? :>
