What to do with all the unused gear, and how to change weapon look?

Hey, im having so much guns and stuff its a mess. Im saving it in the bank because im confused if i should just F (dismantle is it?) everything for parts and stuff? Or should i keep everything? The golden ones and the ones that i like i just lock, but theres tons of stuff there so its becomming a mess. Which weapons and gear should i keep?

Also, lets say i have a 850 power weapon or gear that i really LOVE how it looks. Now im almoast 950. Can i somehow make that weapon my level or...? Or can i make any other weapon that has good stats and is 950, but make it look like the 850power one? Basicaly im asking can you transmog?

You can either dismantle for resources or stash unused weapons and armor in the Tower.

You can change the color pattern of non-exotic weapons with shaders.

Keep all the golden (exotic) weapons and armor. Most of purple (legendary) gear rely on random rolls: armor on the 6 stats and weapons of the 4 perks. Those should determine whether you keep that specific copy of the legendary or dismantle it. And yes, you can raise gear to your current level, you need upgrade modules to do that. The gunsmith in the tower gives you bounties to get those, and you get some for free with the season pass.

I'd recommend not upgrading a lot of stuff left and right though, and you have to do a bit of research to know which perks are worth keeping a piece for and which is just shard fodder.

You can infuse = upgrade the power level of a weapon.

But...i have tons of gear and weapons below powerlevel 940....why would i need to keep lets say purple or blue hand cannon level 900 if i have like 3 other 940 cannons?

- Get rid of the blue gear below your level.
- Keep the good purple gear regardless of level, as you can infuse it to a higher level using even a blue high level piece of gear.

So you cant transmog gear? I mean you cant make helmet A look like a helmet B? You can only change colors?

For the most part, yes. There are things called Ornaments you can get, mostly from Eververse, that allow you to change the look of applicable legendary (purple) equipment. There is a full set of ornaments for armor in the premium season pass, near the end, if you want an example. Weapons and exotic equipment only have ornaments specific to them, likely so other players can see the important parts of what you are running.
