Powerful Tier 3 / Pinnacle Gear "same thing"?

Ikoras reward offers a Powerful Tier 3 that is +6 to base power level which is the same as Pinnacle Gear.

Is it safe to say they are the same? Or is there something i'm missing here?

No, pinnacle gear allow u to get past 950, tier 3 not

This is not entirely correct. Tier 3 seems to work the same as pinnacle. Whilst my average on a character was 946, the tier 3 drop gave me a power 951 body piece.
It can definitely give you gear above 950, even when your average is below 950.

Also edit: I've not finished a single pinnacle activity yet. I got that from the weekly challenge for defeating 25 terrors.

No all that says is you got 951 gear from doing a pinnacle at 950. You dont need to have all your powerful gear equipped for it to count.

Yeah I forgot to include so I edited. I have not finished a single pinnacle activity yet. Ever.

And I can confirm with 100% certainty I have not. I was doing the halloween event thing and got it from the 4th terror kill in that run, which was the 25th of the week. Unless you're saying that is actually giving pinnacle gear instead of tier 3 gear as listed.

I'll find out what happens when I do the other tier 3 challenge. If it's not meant to give gear above 950 then that challenge is definitely bugged and giving pinnacle gear instead.

Pinnacles are the only way above 950 other powerful drops should only go upto 950. It might be bugged from update today changing how pinnacles work from a +1 to a +2. Unless you are wrong then yea its bugged idk.

it's 100% a bug. only way to go past 950 is pinnacle. no exceptions.
