Why does Warlock armor look so mediocre compared to D1?

As someone who didn't play much D1, I never knew how much cooler the armor looked for Warlocks. Gauntlets going up to the shoulder instead of just lame gloves, bonds that actually look unique and pronounced instead of some crap from Hot Topic, and sets that aren't just variations of robes over and over.

On the flip side it looks like Hunters and Titans have kept pretty similar aesthetics, does someone at Bungie just hate us Warlocks :(

I wish the devs tried playing Thundercrash, then. I wish that super did at least half the damage of nova bomb, but ideally it should do the same.

I feel like we could all be the golden children tho if Bungie tried. A nice happy family dynamic instead of one child getting all the parental attention and the others always vying for it but no matter what you do you know they'll never see you as anything more than the "other" kid so you just keep going and keep trying with this vicious feedback loop that you never even realized has affected you until you're an adult with deep seated insecurities and acceptance issues stemming from such an awful childhood!
