how do I trigger hive ritual public event ?

I know how to turn it into an heroic event (stand in the magic circle then destroy both crystals) but I have yet to get the public event and I have been switching planet and instances many times without success

do you guys have any tips ?

After the two witches are dead, go back to the plates on the ground. Staying long enough will drop the shield on the crystal on the corresponding side of the sumoning portal.
Destroy the crystal ; go to the other plate ; destroy the second one.

You dont need multiple guardians.

You just need to have knowledge how to activate it.

You can't trigger public events in Destiny, you just have to wait in areas where those events spawn.
