Rampage vs MKC

Rampage lasts for 3.5s, Multi kill clip last for 5s
Rampage x3 = 33% bonus damage, MKC x3 = 100% bonus damage

on paper MKC looks way better but here me out, you proc rampage x3 you have 3.5s to get a single kill to keep it going while MKC you have 5s to get 3 kills to keep it going. I am curious if this single difference in the course of normal play can make rampage edge out MKC in terms of damage and general usability. Take the vex offensive or altars of sorrow, or any event that has a lot of red bars but also a lot of guardians, I am often finding MKC falling off as I compete for kills while rampage only needs that one kill every 3.5s, What are other people's thoughts on this?

I think that consistency beats effectiveness, and if you can proc and increased damage with one kill, it's already having an edge over the one that requires several, even if the latter is a higher percentage (with a margin, of course). Oftentimes you'll have teammates shooting at the same target, and sometimes you won't get the kill you need to get the multikill counter going, which makes it a lot easier to just kill one and start gunning the rest down with an increasingly bigger DPS. If I had to explain my reasoning more, I'd just say "Breakneck".
