benefit of armor sets ?

is there a benefit when i am wearing more pieces of one armor set ?

As far as I can tell, there's no set bonuses and shaders help in making mismatched armor pieces not look as mismatched.

Only the gambit prime armor sets have set bonuses everything else doesnt

There are some bounties that require you to have at least one black armory weapon equipped when completing certain activities, but none of them mention armor.

I have two pieces of armour that tell me they are part of a set and one of them gives me a speed buff for wearing one piece of it, the buff gets doubled if i find another piece of it. I think the pants are some Reverie thing and my arms are neo-kinetic something or other, but both claim they are part of a set.

Christ knows where I found them..

EDIT: Also both pieces of armour are the only armour pieces I have found that come with built in mods like weapons have, both pieces have three built in buffs/mods.

For example, the rare bounty I'm currently working on that requires me to do 4 public events, some number of adventures/patrols, 3 strikes, a Heroic adventure, and 3 Crucible/Gambit matches while using a Black Armory weapon.
