Forsaken launched at $40, and the annual pass was $35
Now the bundle for both is $40 total.
Forsaken will not be required whatsoever for shadowkeep, and upon starting a new character you will be at lvl 50 750 power, which is the current post-annual pass max.
Ah, I see. So with Shadowkeep and its Season pass, you're essentially good to go for the of the remainder of the season/year.
But wouldn't that make buying Forsaken's pass after Shadowkeep goes live a worse proposition? I imagine the story would be a reason to buy it, but if new characters start off already levelled, will there be enough incentive to have people doing old content/raids? Or, to put it another way, how big is the risk of buying Forsaken and running into a wasteland when it comes to activities?
I'm aware this might be going into hypothetical territory, but I'm just trying to get a clear picture, since I'm not all that familiar with Destiny 2's structure and there are a few other games on my radar for autumn/winter.
Shadowkeep will be level 60 and either 800 or 900 power max.
It's just like forsaken. Pre-forsaken max was 400 power, the softcap for forsaken was 560.
As for a reason to buy Forsaken, it's just good content. Since all of year 2 will probably be bundled together once it comes to Steam, that's 3 very good raids, a solid campaign, a whole bunch of side activities with a lot of gear and exotics to chase. I'm not sure what they will be doing with the third tree added to each subclass, but my guess is that will probably become part of new light. Even now a fair bit of the year 1 content isn't too hard to find people for, so I expect year 2 raids and activities will still have people running them well into year 3, especially because they will drop year 3 versions of their gear, so people who like particular year 2 sets will have reason to keep running that content in hopes of getting the perfect rolls on said gear.
