How's the multiplayer?
I've always heard that it was a struggle to find people to raid with for obtaining certain items in the game. Also when doing pvp how long does it generally take to find a match? Also do you use your own gear for pvp? What gamemodes are popular? And does this game have a decent playerbase? Will it take a long time to find people for these raids and pvp matches?

PvP is a hot mess, only play it if you're trying to get the OP as ♥♥♥♥ pinnacle weapons.
But be warned, its a nightmare.

The time to find a pvp match varies depending on the people youre playing with, it can take 20 seconds to 3 minutes. You use all your own gear for pvp and raids which is a good and bad thing since certain weapons are a lot better then others. just like all fps games, team death match/ zone capturing are the most played game modes. The playerbase is'nt to bad but you will meet your fair share of toxic people. finding people for raids isnt as bad as people make it sound. you can either use the sub reddit or the destiny app to find people. some people will request that you know what the do (through a guide or any other way to find it out ) while others actually require to have done the raid. you can also find people who have no problem guiding you through a raid themselves but other than that, everything else is straight forward.

Game has a very active playerbase, and for raids you definitely need to find friends or a clan to play with to make it a bit easier for yourself.

You don't need friends or a clan, just the Companion App. :D:

PVP is good and competitive. Its hard at first, but its well structured. It's not CoD or Battlefield level of quality but its very decent for a game which has PvE as main focus, also you get PvPvE modes such as Gambit. Basically look up some footage on youtube and check if you like it.

Have you PLAYED PvP?
90% of the maps are designed for 4 players, so you'll get shot most of the times as you spawn
Rampant balance issues with toxic metas.
And the structure? A mess.
Comp REVOLVES around heavy ammo. It's not who can come out on top with their tools, it's who gets the ammo for hammerhead first.

Its pretty bad and the only times i touch it are when im forced to to progress armor or weapons
Destiny 2 has more than 1 million daily peak players and its one of the most played games in the world, but the PvP is the worst you can imagine in any videogame, im a Destiny veteran playing from the very first day of D1's release, and PvP has never been worse than it is right now, the balance is just horrendous and you're forced to play one class (Titan) if you want to win games as it is completely broken, some people have the balls to call this game's PvP competitive, but some people also cut their ♥♥♥♥ off and say they're women, so make your own conclusions.
Also the devs force PvP to get OP pinnacle weapons such as the recluse wich is PvE meta, yes, PvE, and you have to play PvP to get it, that's why most of the playerbase cheeses these weapons by filling up lobbies with friends and boosting victories to rank up glory score and unlock these weapons.

IT IS THAT BAD.

PvE side, it's one of the best and most complete games with content being added on monthly basis and big content drops every 3 months.

IMO- the pvp is pretty good - as long as you don't mind getting stomped occasionally.
In a game with hundreds of weapons and armors, and dozens of powerful, unique exotics, there are always bound to be a few 'meta' combinations that can give you an edge, but every weapon and weapon type can be used effectively - mostly they fall into about 3 different subtypes for each type of weapon, and armor perks don't do THAT much, for the most part so everything is VIABLE, but not everything is OPTIMAL

Destiny's pvp is NOT a super-competitive, hyper-balanced shooter like overwatch or whatever, It's a challenge to test yourself against other players - i'd take it pretty casually.

overall, i like it, but you'll occasionally come up against sweaty 4-stacks. For the low, low price of free (soon), it's a solid pvp experience is not a little...chaotic.

not at all
I mainly play on xbox, and finding groups has never been an issue for me. Bungie offers their own lfg app that is fairly active for end game activities and missions. The players you'll meet can be a bit of a mixed bag, but most of the players running raids have a pretty good idea of whats going on with sherpa/learning groups being labeled as such
