For players that have already paid for Destiny 2 before it went Free, will there be compensation?
Hi All,
I purchased destiny 2 along with a bunch of friends of mine a while back, played a good bit (I would say I got my money's worth) before moving on. However, I paid for the base game and all the DLC during that time.

Now the game is going free to play. Will older players which paid for the base game be getting a discount on DLC or some other compensation for the fact that they paid for the base game which has now been made free? I am not asking because I am mad at bungie for taking a game I paid for and making it free, im just hoping for a discount of some kind >:)

No your not going to get a discount. Myself and everyone else that decided to buy the game upon release and then the DLCs made the choice to do that.

The only thing anyone is going to be getting for free is the base game and year 1 content. If new players want to get Forsaken, they will have to pay for it.

I'm not sure of the price point for Forsaken/Y2 Annual Pass, but I know it is combined. New Light will also have a lot of activities that were previously Forsaken/Y2 for free.

Connect your accounts at https://www.bungie.net/7/en/Pcmove and get access to everything that you had on your blizzard account on Steam for the low low price of "Free". I do not see the problem nor the need to get free stuff.

You guys are completely confusing.
Bungie is changing platform provider from Blizzard (Battle.net) to Steam. For that reason, it is normal that players get their ingame content transfered from one to the other.
There is no problem for DLCs neither. Everyone remains equal and needs to pay for it.
The issue is that there is no compensation for people that bought the game and content at year 1. These players (including myself) obviously get aggrieved compared to new players.

well, game is already two years, if it is in steam it would be 75% sales long time ago and Bungie isn't the first company to give old version as free contents, other games like Guild war, World of Warcraft, and EA's games also have this option too.

That's a stupid reason to be mad or hate bungie. Game was released 3 years ago, and if you didn't make it count to be worthy then you are STUPID!. After all you don't lose anything you can still play it FFS. ccc... i'm just worried because of people like you will terribly downvote this game since it had bad start but its getting better and better.1

Release date : September, 06 2017
2 years and no 3. And this is very short for a game to be F2P !

Counter Strike GO was released in 2012 and waited 2018 for F2P.
Guild Wars 2? Same story. (2012 and 2019)
World of Warcraft? lol (2005)

Please stop being fan boys. This game is very great but companies need to stop taking loyal customers for ♥♥♥♥ and start reward them instead.

So, when will the game appear in my steam account from the transfer over?

I aint going to get the F2P version, I would rather wait for the game and what content i have transfered over so that i KNOW its been transfered over.

I bought the game and forsaken with season pass and got extra DLC's for getting the deluxe (or collectors versions), the only thing i dove have is same as everyone else and thats the new DLC.

I bought it all a month before they made the announcement that it was switching platforms. At which i decided not to bother playing and to wait for the transfer to complete (my previous experiances with these things are they never go smooth and you always always lose character stuff), even though they say you wont, i wonder how many will have lost what they had done and by how much (of a server rewind actually happened).

Anyways am waiting, have linked (just checked and my accounts are linked) but as of yet have not heard anything else. I know alot of peeps are inpatient and have grabbed the F2P version, this could cause issues (note i said could not will), plus also how will you know when your game has been transfered over.

Installing the F2P version will not cause any troubles. You characters are saved on the Bungie servers and are still playable. When the game launches on Steam it will still use same bungie servers so unless you log in on different account you will not lose anything.
TL;DR installing the CLIENT of the game can't corrupt or overwrite data on the SERVER. Preload the free version and play your characters on 1 Oct

no and there is no reason we should get a discount or compensation.
