Mouse sensitivity question for pvp
So I've been away from playing pc for a while and have been playing on console for the last few years. Whatever m+k skill I had is still there, but I'm definitely rusty. I've been running at sens 15 w/ 800 or 1600 dpi, and I feel like it's not a problem for pve, but pvp I feel like I'm not even hitting my target at all. I'm totally lost and never played with changing mouse settings from most games from default, so I'm unsure of how I can get comfortable on pc again. What do you guys recommend/ use? I don't have a whole lot of room to move my mouse, so I can't really throw my arm around like I've seen people do during pc streams.

The most common sensitivity among really high level players is 800 DPI with 3 sens. So yeah, a little lower than yours, lol. I'd recommend making more space for your mouse and getting used to playing with a much lower sens if possible.

High dpi with sensitivity around 5 for me. The most important factor in first person shooters is fps, the higher it is the more responsive your controls feel and as a result you can be more accurate.

Holy crap! that feels weird, but I think I can try that out, how much room would you say I would need, I can set aside about 12 in of space to move my mouse around [/quote]

Makes sense, right now I'm kinda locked to 60fps because of my monitor, won't be upgrading for a few months.

For me personally, and this has been the same since I started playing shooters in like 1999....

I play around with sensitivity until my normal feel-good left to right movement exactly spins me 180 degrees. I am a low sensitivity user mostly, but it varies by game to game, and takes me some time playing around with sliders or value until I hit that 180 degree smooth motion.

I can't really give any sort of advice since I use Logitech Options program to tweak the sensitivity as well as the option in Windows(both are independent of one another) and my mouse is a battery-life oriented wireless plugged into my monitor's USB. Basically offending every piece of advice that was ever given yet have super low input latency and it personally feels great. It really depends on your DPI, these other settings, and yeah. Set it wherever feels comfortable.

tl;dr keep it fairly high, with ADS around 0.5-0.7

If you can create 12 inches of mouse space then you'd be fine on 3 or 4 sens. It will take some getting used to if you're used to playing with your wrist on a really high sens though.

Even if your monitor is only 60hz, unlocking your frame rate will typically make a game feel more responsive.

This test is biased toward the sensitivity that you're currently used to playing on due to muscle memory.

If someone is used to playing at 5cm/360 and they suddently switch to 50cm/360 they will massively misjudge their 180 turns. That doesn't mean that they're better off at 5cm/360, it means they're currently used to playing at 5cm/360 and would need time to adjust to a much lower sensitivity.

If I make even a minor adjustment to my sensitivity, I'll leave it about a week to decide whether it's better or not.

All of those are great points. I wanted to see if having to pick up your mouse during turns is something normal, I feel like i have to push my mouse around quite a bit.

Your sens is very very high. Probably a problem with percision in PvP. Mine is 5sens 1400dpi and I want to try to walk it down
omargoshtv Nov 14, 2019 @ 7:25pm
800 + 15 is insanely high,
try anywhere from 800 + 3-7 ingame. i wouldn't recommend going higher or lower than those ranges.

Remember guys that if you're using lower sensitivity in the Windows settings it will require the in-game sensitivity to go up a bit. Mine is at 15-16 depending on the mousepad and it's very precise whenever I need it to be

I just remembered that your mouse sensitivity changes depending on the refresh rate of the monitor. I think it becomes less sensitive the higher it is.

OP what is your monitor's refresh rate?

That depends on a lot of things, monitor refresh rate, your response time and DPI

60 for the time being

I say stick with 800dpi setting, dont change it. Turn desktop mouse sensitivity up to your liking in Mouse and Pointer options. If using a logitech, download Logitech Options for more fine tuning of sensitivity. Then you can tune game sensitivity. With 60hz maybe have 0.7 or 0.8 ads factor.
