When your players have to use third-party applications to achieve what could be done/should be doable in-game through a few clicks in a menu, you have failed as a dev.
More so failed as a community, but seeing they didn't even bother trying to put even a basic LFG channel in game it does start to weigh in on the devs.
Thank you for your personal but unnecessary comment on my opinion. Have a nice day.
Well the community isn't responsible for the lack of proper social features in the game, isn't she ? People will use whatever tools they can find to make up for that and enjoy the game, they won't care that "by doing this they don't motivate the devs to fix the issues" or stuff, nor should they care.
Just to be clear, I use discord for this game and for other purposes, I don't mind it being my clan's HQ and I don't mind joining fireteams through Steam Friends. I'm not salty or complaining. I just stated my opinion, this whole thing is a failure from the devs.
When I did raiding in GW2, which does have LFG, pretty much every run we still went into a discord anyway. Would probably be the same for Destiny, so I imagine it really is just a matter of why putting in all the work when it wouldn't do much anyway.
In any case, a ton of the game is like that. There are tons of catalysts locked to strikes/crucible/nightfalls when their weapons don't have to come from there. Heck, my poor baby the MIDA Multi-tool comes from a regular quest, but its catalyst comes from the highest competition in the Crucible. It is incentive to get out of your comfort zone, do more than just what you always do.
I don't see how that's relevant. Your initial complaint was that catalysts shouldn't be locked behind "social" activities, despite the fact that the game is designed to be a social experience. Alt + tabbing to Discord can be described as a minor inconvenience at worst.
Because that's the default setting.
Oh, lmao. I forgot... You're THAT guy.
