Does anyone else get that annoying coil whine in your graphic card while playing?
Only seems to happen in Destiny 2. I have v-sync on and my framerate cap set to 144 fps. Anyone else get that coil whine as well?

Yes, that annoying buzz sound when rendering any 3D program. High tier GPU's have them due to their higher power output but I seem to only get it with Destiny 2. Not even Monster Hunter: World emits coil whine.

The only other time it happens is during benchmark tests which is normal since its pushing the card to its limits.

I had been getting some whine from my pc before, but it actually turned out to be my power supply. I turned the max frames down a bit and it fixed me right up.

Apologies for the necro, but did you ever get more info on this? Thought it was just me, but Destiny 2 definitely causes coil whine, while the two dozen other games I play do not.

Dont worry about the whine its just the gpu is dishing out too many fps. I have a 144hz monitor but i play with vsync on 60fps. Takes out most of the coil whining on my 2070S. Plus playing on more than 60fps you take more damage in pve anyway so yea.

At the end of the day its just noise due to the card being put to work, its not a cause of worry in and of itself. If you actually mind it, just limit the workload on the card but uh... I play with headphones and if coil whine happens (doesn't happen here, most notably in modded Skyrim in my case) its not really loud enough to be actually annoying, so.

I had that on my 1660super. Never really was an issue, not nearly loud enough to be heard over game sound provided you have headphones. Other than that as others have said it's not a cause for concern, it's extremely common and doesn't denote any malfunction of the gpu.

Hi friends welcome back from the dead. At the time of this post I was using a GTX 1080 Ti which was ultimately returned back to Asus for being faulty and since then I've been using an RTX 3080 with no coil whine probably because the card is much more powerful.

Overall Luxia is correct, it was just the graphic card being put to work. It's nothing serious unless the card explodes which means you have bigger problems instead lol
