How Exactly does the Account transfer work?
So i did my account transfer a little while ago and im kinda confused on how it works. My main concern is: Do i need to buy Destiny 2 on Steam? Does it unlock at a certain time on Steam? Does it only transfer my account details and not my ownership?

I feel like the whole process on bungie.net was a little obscure, or maybe i didnt read enough into it.

Destiny 2 New Light will be free to play, with the full base game, Year 1 content, PvP, etc. If you don't have Forsaken you'll have to buy it, and if you want Shadowkeep and the new seasons you'll have to buy those as well.

1. It transfers everything, that means it also transfers licenses and silver.
2. The transfer happens on the 1st of October. So when the game is out on steam, you just download it and continue where you left off.

Since you linked both your Battle.net account and Steam account on Bungie, your data will be transferred. You can still play on Battle.net and your data will still be synced.

On October 1st, Destiny 2 will unlock on Steam. Since you linked your Steam account, the game will appear as "Download" and not "Purchase". Since your Steam account is linked with Bungie, the data will carry over during the download and you will continue as if nothing happened.

" Do i need to buy Destiny 2 on Steam? "

No. Linking the Account will transfer everything you own from battle.net to steam October 1st.

"Does it unlock at a certain time on Steam?"
Yes it will. October 1st at 10am PST. Whether or not preloading will happen is not known.

"Does it only transfer my account details and not my ownership?"
It will transfers both your account details(like your characters gear etc) and Ownership to steam.

Your battle.net username is not expected to transfer, nor your friends list. Make sure to add any friends on steam you want to stay in touch with.

Well on Bungie page my Steam and Battle.net accounts look linked and it says "Done"... should it appear on my library?

The actual migration are not done yet. You previously only link your steam account to bungie account so it later can be migrated.

Nope. Even if you pre-ordered Shadowkeep, nothing on BNet will appear until the migration occurs. Noone has mentioned definitely if stuff like Forsaken will appear as an installed DLC/etc in Library but Bungie has stated 'everything' will get transferred.

Mind you, if you have multiple Bnet accounts... you only get to link one Bnet to one SteamID. You can't grab all the stuff from your PS4 and XB Bnets and dump everything onto Steam (Would be nice ^_^ but I'm not sure if the exclusive stuff will appear either... presumably it would).

I pre-ordered Shadowkeep when I did the transfer. Will there be two separate entries or what? I purchased Shadowkeep on Steam as bungie suggested. I will hope that it is just added in-game as one listed. Just concerned. And you are saying we have to reinstall the game again? Do we uninstall it from bungie end?

What if i own Forsaken, does that transfer aswell or will it be bundled with shadowkeep? If i do need to buy it and it is bundled with Shadowkeep, thats not a big deal i was planning on getting it.

Forsaken isn't bundled with Shadowkeep under any circumstances. It'll be a separate purchase, and if you have it already, you're good, you only need to get Shadowkeep.

Im not going to lie, i would feel a LOT more comfortable if Destiny 2 was in my library. I spent a decent amount on all the past DLC and expansions, and tbh i want to play now just in case it the transfer goes bad and i lose it all...but im not gonna download on blizzard for a few weeks then again here..

i really hope theres no issue at launch where bnet players dont end up getting their old accounts.

all the stuff ive done and saved...id hate to start over, let alone have to rebuy some bad DLC just to have it, and then forsaken again, on top of this content.

I am nervous about it.

Cyber, I know how you feel on that. Me too. Sounds weird that we don't have to save everything as a back up "just in case" they mess up the accounts. I know but like you, I have put some hours into the game and want to keep it that way. Not a very good player but still. I have pre-ordered Shadowkeep on Steam. Just want to have it bought and done. Forsaken is the one that will be a mess if you don't have it already I think. Was a great dlc though, my favorite.
