Oh ok. Well I guess I was lucky then
Very lucky, nothing wrong with that!
I will mention that the story isn't really worth it, I'd just queue it up on YouTube since it's really just a string of cut scenes and it isn't worth the maybe 30 minutes of cut scene's compared to the many hours it will take to slog through basic content that's incredibly easy since it was designed for level 0 players, not level 750 players.
I'd say the biggest reason to play legacy content is just to notice how, at one point, there was a game hidden under all of these microtransactions and dailies.
Totally not true. I enjoyed very much playing through the campaigns. I guess people who just want to kill things without any story or lore however might not enjoy it. But most of those people are the kind that just cancel cutscenes in games. Please OMG get this over with so I can go back to shooting things. Sound familiar. You probably dont even know what the story was because you where not even paying attention to it. And if its slog to actually play the game why even do so.
Sorry foir the rant it bothers me when people downgrade the content so much..
Probably some triumphs will require you to complete them, like the one on Mars, trying to shoot all latent memories requires you to complete the Warmind campaign in order to have one specific door to open.
The story is possibly the most basic story I could imagine, but the pictures were pretty. I give them that. They just didn't bother with hiring writers, they spent it all on familiar voices from popular science fiction franchises and rendering mysterious objects. "Oh, isn't that the voice of Green Martian! Oh, isn't that one of several characters from Firefly! Ooh, look at this foliage!"
Then again, I will admit they know their audience. Plot has never been required for any MMO style game. Some people really get into it, but they aren't books or even decent screenplays. They are 100% trope. I say this as someone that plays them, it is what it is and it isn't an RPG. It might have been an RPG, but that part of the game was deleted along with the rewards for legacy content.
I, sir, return a rant for your rant.
In MMO raid style games, expect a tiny fraction of your player base to get that interested in the minimal plot. It's window dressing, not the point. Maybe the world you build will be remembered, but it's ALWAYS a story about how you're special and will save the world. Always.
If I spend 5 hours doing your 'you are modern jesus' game content and suffer through your basic plot, I should get a reward not a kick in the teeth because you deleted content for arbitrary reasons. And lets be clear, this is a loot based power level based game. It's not a 'deserve' thing, it's the entire thing itself.
And, just to be super clear about it, this is obviously all subjective but I don't think it's terribly controversial either.
