Level design and pacing. I mean we can pretend that it is lighting the world on fire when it isn't even a blip in PVP games. Do they even have tournaments or anything like that? The whole thing just feels "off" when it comes down to it. Maybe it is the servers making it feel like that IDK.
Umm sure. The PVP isn't difficult at all. It is almost easy at some points. This isn't my first PVP game so IDK why that is the response when I am trying to come to a conclusion on why Bungie seems to have missed the mark when they already had a very good formula from their previous work. It reminds me of Quake Champions in that they had a good formula and just seemed to ignore it or work on what made it good in the first place.
Ah I guess that is true. I just assumed the ones that stuck around would have at least played it and said it wasn't up to par. I think the other poster is right about the split between PVE and PVP being the reason for the lack of care in the PVP side. It's a shame because I think with some work it could really get the old feeling back again. At least PVE is amazing.
No one said it was hard? It isn't suppose to be? It's suppose to be enjoyable and fun and that's what it is and does. Stop treating things like they should be E-sports ready because it has a competitive mode.
You get to keep your weapons, not use pre-made ones, so you have people with exotics or very well rolled gear. You get to use your super which can easily decimate en entire team multiple times if used properly to gain multiple orbs of light. You get powers that can be changed in various ways to give the edge and somehow people still want it to be an E-sports competitive mode? I just don't get it xD. Have fun ya dingdongs!
Everything you just said is objectively wrong. But continue.

but the thing is, all its flaws compund
titans are just blatantly overpowered in pvp,
theres a disgustingly strong meta,
and they also decided to lock some of the litteral best guns in the game behind a gamemode that a good chunk of the playerbase wont like
^^ This.
I've been playing FPS games for 20 years now. I used to play other FPS games competitively. I'm pretty good at FPS games in general. The people who are really good at Destiny PVP are waaay better than me at it. Like, if a team of 4 of me played against a team of 4 of them, I don't think my team would get a kill. Look up cammycakes on YouTube for example, he's really good at explaining his thought process as he's playing. Destiny PVP is a lot deeper than it appears at a first glance.
Also, crucible is heavily featured in the lore of Destiny. It isn't "shaky on the ground" in any way shape or form. In the Destiny universe the Crucible is a training program for guardians and the matches are broadcast as entertainment. Lord Shaxx (the Crucible dude) is also fairly significant in the history of the Destiny universe.
