Steam Friends List: Visible to Destiny 2 - Can We Opt Out ?
Hi - I don't want Destiny 2 and it's Development/Community personnel/employees looking at my Steam friends list (that I have marked as private on Steam) - how can I opt out ?

If its in-game it means its stored somewhere in order to be read. They can't see it if they don't want to do it but lets be real why would anyone bother to do it if they could?
The friendlist is not realy saved in the game, they have integrated steamworks for that and read the info they display fhrough this implementation.

So if you set it on steam to private or friends only the game can read the info when you are logged in, but since it is not stored Bungie is not able to see it.

But the question is why do you play a game of a developer you do not trust with just basic info like a friendlist.

If the friends list is being displayed through the client, then the developer/publisher and any of thier employees who have access to client data can see it.

This is not a question about who I trust, but more a question of safety, especially regarding children and minors...

16+ game. Easy. Dont let your kids play with it or just put it on private profile yourself and teach your kid not to accept random invites or Jared from Subway will come with his foot long

Guess you have to go take a lesson of API and safety. And no since the data is directly pulled from the steam network through your account only when you are logged in Bungie can not see it if they do not sync it with your bungie account. And since that data is useless to them why should they waste space to store that data.

And if you are so worried about what data Bungie holds from you ask them, if you are in the EU they are obliged by law to tell you anyway and what they did with it. But as I said would be surprised if your steam friendlist will be on that list.

I am sorry - but the Friends list's of minors are still available to Bungie employees, who have access - any "intent" discussion is irrelevant. It is even still visible if you set your profile to private...

Yup any discussion about a fictional fact in your brain matrix is indeed futile. Or at least come with proof that bungie syncs your steam friendlist with their service which is highly unlikely.

This is not about winning some benign internet argument, it is about safety, and especially the safety of underage minors..

If the Steam Friends list data (and text) is displayed in the game, then the client will log the code and the text temporarily, and this will be retrievable within a time frame, for any Destiny 2 employee who has access.

The API call that they see can't bypass privacy settings.
