Just as a personal anecdote, I recently managed to run VTM:R on 3440x1440@32bit with maxed out graphics. And better yet, I even had the game overwrite old saves right out of the box without any hitch. Neither of which was something i couldnt do for an hour of digging around for various solutions on my win10. When it comes to saves I actually had to manually alt+tab and delete old saves before attempting to save anew(and experience many crashes in the process). Windows game, windows Windows and yet it runs much better on Linux right out of the box. Also, no microlag.
You wanna play on Windows instead of Linux - you do you mate. But what I don't understand is why you aren't just being unhelpful, but are actively putting sticks in my wheels. Do you have an exaggerated crab in a bucket reflex or something?
That's not how it works. You know the number of small bugs affecting small portions of the windows userbase? Some people can't do a certain quest, or get a certain error over and over, or don't matchmake/connect properly to other players. That's just one OS. Now imagine the number of tiny problems that would pop up over the dozens of various Linux OSs and windows emulators, imagine if some of those tiny problems included being able to pull free items out of the store, or become invulnerable in PvP, or crash the account server when they take a specific action. You can't just say "this sort of works, so have fun with it" in an online game like this, there needs to be some testing and supporting happening to make sure these setups don't destabilize the game or negatively impact other players, and just getting the game to run that smoothly on one OS is hard enough. I mean this should be common sense.
Seriously..lol..They want as many people to be able to enjoy there game as possible. Its just not an officially supported OS.
Blizzard's anticheat system used on World of Warcraft and other Battle.Net games erroneously flagged Wine users for ban, but Blizz not only reversed all the bans, they also modified their games so that users could make use of these systems without fear of being banned simply for using Linux. Multiple other developers have done the same, while others were proactive in ensuring that their games would not treat Linux users with Wine / Proton as hostile, some testing the game via Wine / Proton to allow a parity experience, even if they couldn't create a fully native Linux client.
I would urge Bungie to do the same. At very least, ensure that Linux users on Wine/Proton aren't treated as hostile nor flagged for ban. With the arrival of Destiny 2 on Steam, this is a great time for Bungie to ingratiate themselves to their new community by reaching out to Linux users with this gesture, as well as helping the game to run as well via Wine / Proton as possible. It will only mean more users, a better community, and good PR far beyond the amount of time and money invested in doing so.
Linux is the kernel not the operating system.
"Linux is the best-known and most-used open source operating system."
WIndows has a kernel to. The Kernel is simply the core of an OS.
I already answered all of your questions. Linux is not a gaming OS. I truly don’t care how you feel about my stance, but if you want to play Destiny 2, the only current supported OS is Windows.
I frankly don’t see the need to jump down the rabbit hole of Linux-based.
change googles mind, i dare you.
