WINE - Wine Is Not an Emulator
WINE - Wine Is Not an Emulator.

Proton also is NOT an emulator.

and they are most definitely NOT what you call "Modified Operating System" as per your particular poor choice of wording, just who are you to tell people if they're allowed to have modified their own OS? Who are you to tell what people can and can't have? You don't get to dictate to people if they're allowed to modify their own OS.

I just want to point out someone here said them not letting people linux was the same as racism. You guys are really weird and and are insane if you compare this to racism, last i checked you could buy windows you can't change your birth.

Just saying if you want to run Windows programs just get Windows. You can have both you know. Just my opinion however.
Or just get Linux. Works just as well, but without a built in keylogger forced telemetry services.

Nothing but a pain if you ask me.. All I ever hear on forums is we want a Linux version of such and such game.

Money. They don’t want to plunk down the money on the license.

Which is ridiculous, because Windows stopped forcing people to buy upgrades for it.
Are you talking from experience or out of your rear end? It's a reason, but not the reason. And by far not the only one.

https://itvision.altervista.org/why-windows-10-sucks.html

As someone who works with Linux daily, I have my own preferences, and I still prefer Win10.

Support and compatibility of all the software I need is one of them.

So, plenty of experience under my belt. Thanks for asking though.

Except you are comparing direct 12 to vulcan which is like comparing apples to oranges. It is sometimes slower and sometimes faster. Different implementations of algorithms can drastically change execution speeds.

Microsoft has been making OSs for a long long time . There algorythms are undeniably as effecient as possible.
Dood, I have a bridge to sell you right now. Do you know how much less efficient spagetti code untouched and undocumented for decades becomes? Especially once you fire your most experienced QA officers?

whatever I have a programming/web development based degree. Your not talking to someone who knows nothing about programming and OSs.

And I have a win 8.1 OEM license as well as win 10 license. Yet I am using Linux and couldn't be happier. And yet you went and sweepingly called Linux users cheapskates. Or did i misread what you were trying to say?

In which case I do not have to elaborate on how important it is to keep legacy code for compatibility and how it's removal and rewriting can cause problems with adaptation of new versions, especially on Enterprise.
Right now i think the priority is Windows and Stadia, since stadia is kind of a whole new platform.
"Hey guys, let's spend thousands of manhours creating and testing a build to make sure it runs without bugs or exploits for the 0.83% of Steam users running any variant Linux. It will totally be fine and worth it."

Why is this ever a surprise to anyone? Dozens of hackjob slow as crap OS variations, each with their own issues, make up less than one percent of the gaming userbase.

Less than 0.08% of Steam users run Wine, it's so low it's not ever listed on the Steam system survey. But sure, lets make sure the game runs fine and has support for the 5 people in the world wanting to play the game on Wine. That's reasonable.

Nope you read that correctly.

Linux is not for gaming.

They can make any rules they want for their game that connects to their server. You signed their TOS so they have every right.

Point is Linux is not supported. The devs made that point as well, if you read the specs.

Proton is specifically made to run games not meant for Linux, so it can run on Linux.

Games meant for Linux have the "SteamOS + Linux" Label.

Skyrim isn't meant to run on Linux, but Proton fixes that.

Devs can do as they want in making sure it won't work with Linux. Their game, our money though.

Sure do play the game on Linux but you'll get immediate Banned as that last guy who tried to run Destiny 2 on Linux got banned instantly Linux is NOT compatible for Destiny 2
