Dude, do you not understand what a loot game is?
You ONLY have 2 hours of ingame time on top of that...
I do, and I've addressed this earlier in the thread. I'm not looking for GOOD weapons, so much as SPECIFIC weapons. I've played a number of loot games, and most of them have crappy low-level versions of most of the high-level weapon types. The Division has low-level LMGs, Diablo has low-level greatswords, even Warframe has low-level LMG-style weapons which suck ass but still exist. That's sort of what I'm after here.
I'm sure I'll be upgrading that crappy standard weapon or finding better variants of it. Was just hoping to not have to keep using a Burst Rifle, honestly.
It does have a Mastery Rank 3 LMG, though - the Gorgon. It's terrible, it's hard to farm for and REALLY not worth the effort... But hey, I still enjoyed using it starting out :) Just for the record - I have since replaced the Gorgon with a variety of other LMGs, including a Prisma Gorgon. Those are actually pretty good, with the Tenora being my current favourite. Just... It was a holdover when I first started, is all.
The grind isn't so much getting weapon types, both fixed odds (menagerie LMG) and Hammerhead (forge LMG) are fairly easy to get given you have played the game more than a few hours. I highly recommend you start looking into Destiny YouTube channels, they all have SUPER useful information, and sometimes information you don't need to know, like the ornament/skin for the slug shotgun The Chaperone giving it a bonus 0.1% range.
Also earlier in the thread I heard you wondering where to start campaigns, while in your map literally just hold E and it will tell you all the major milestones you need to complete. Happy hunting guardian!
Thank you, I will definitely do that. Should help me get my foot in the door. I can do with a bit more direction :)
Oh, I'm sure. The thing, though, is that there are certain weapon types I simply don't like using, even if they're "better" in theory. I played quite a bit of Vermintide 2 recently, and I had no issue using a weapon with a substantially lower Power Level if it was the only two-handed hammer I had access to at the time. I've done the same in The Division, scrapping high-level rifles to hold onto my lower-level KSP because I just like that kind of weapon.
I realise this might be aberrant behaviour, but I tend to care more about look and feel than I do about stats and performance. Indeed, being able to find something I like early in the game has been crucial for my experience. Even if they're technically "good," weapons that don't fit my playstyle tend to undermine the core experience.

Oh, that reminds me - what's the difference between "primary" and "energy" weapons? Those seem to have separate applicable weapons, but I can't tell either what the difference is supposed to be or what makes one weapon "more energy" than another. I mean, my current "energy" weapon is the Half-Life shotgun...
---
Energy weapons shoot energy beams and bullets, all of which can come in a unique, elemental flavor: arc (electric), void (purple magic stuff) or solar (fire). On average, these energy weapons do slightly less damage to normal enemies than their kinetic cousins, but they deal far higher damage to shields.
If you are able to match the element of your gun to the shield you are shooting (for example, if you take down a Minotaur’s void shield with your void pulse rifle), the shield will explode, dealing massive damage to all enemy targets in the area. As in the original Halo games, use energy weapons to take down an enemy’s shield so you can finish them off with your kinetic weapon of choice.
