I have the same issue as well.

My game was working fine until I got a GPU Crash error (broccoli).

Now it wont launch and i'm getting the "Problem reading game content" error.

I cant redownload the whole game again, I've got GB limits where im at and its quite difficult.

I have been trying to find a fix for it for nearly 2hrs now. Verifying files seems do not work.

I did that twice already on two of my other drives and still had the same issue. But good luck to you and let us know if yours work.

Boys, I think i found a solution, it worked for me.

1. Go to your Destiny 2 File location. (In steam, right click destiny 2, go to Properties, then Local Files, and click Browse Local files. This should open your Destiny 2 directory.

2. Now highlight ALL files EXCEPT for "Packages", and move them onto your desktop for now. So your destiny 2 file should only have the packages currently.

3. Now go back to steam and right click destiny 2, go to Properties, then Local Files, and click Verify Integrity of Game Files.

It should download the missing files you removed and fix the game for you like it did for me.

GOOD LUCK!

The Destiny2.exe process is hidden in the task manager...you have to close the game using CMD....that should fix the issue

If you are getting that message "Like I DID" You need to force close it using CMD....it is hidden....It worked for not only me, but my 5 friends who were also experiencing the issue.

However, you still will not be able to play since the servers are globally down right now

Command Prompt "Run as Administrater" then type "taskkill /IM destiny2.exe" without the quotes
