SSD or HD?
Does this game have long loading times where an SSD is highly recommended? Just curious.

only seemed to take a while to load when connecting with others who have an unstable/slow connection with strikes

loading onto a planet(Open world-ish PvE) was always quick, i'd expect it to be the same on steam

Okay thank you.

It depends on your setup. If you have a gaming grade/higher speed HD, then you probably will be fine. But if you have a old slow HD you probably will regret using it.

If you have a SSD with space on it, I recommend using it. Being able to quickly swap gear, and have things load quickly is very useful.

On consoles, having a SSD definitely makes a huge difference for them.

Experiences really seem to differ here. Based on my experience (being an HDD user), I would very much recommend SSD. I have personally never had to deal with more annoying and extremely long loading times in other games before, even The Witcher 3 went fast compared to Destiny 2. It usually takes me about 5-8 minutes from launching the game to me actually being on a planet/ in a mission ready to go. I'm not using a terribly outdated machine and I have heard similar complaints quite often on forums from others, so mine may not be an isolated case.

You can always tell who is the HDD player when loading into strikes and raids. You'll encounter a door that won't open, and realise its because someone is still loading in. Always funny, but its only ever a few seconds extra.

SSD for life though.

No brainer SSD

SSD is better; BUT , sometime when you are on a HDD in the loading times you can check everything , quest, inventory, ect. and just for that , i'll tell you to use HDD, oh by the way, sometime the loading screen is about your connection and the other player connection

Yeah: your loading time can take 30+ secs because of players with ♥♥♥♥♥♥ connection lol

put it on HDD if it's too slow you can always move it to SSD
i'm putting on HDD for now and maybe later use the steam move game option to my NVME m.2 drive if needed

I would recommend putting the game on SSD. I don't know how much time it saves but this game has some insanely long loading times and you'll be spending time in loading screens a lot.

IMO 80 GB is waste of space for SSD. I have 5400 RPM HDD way slower than 7200 RPM ones but even with that I have no problems with loading times.

Space isn't really a problem with modern SSDs, with 1TB costing <$150.

Then it won't problem but low capacity SSD owners might visit this topic too.

Something else to note with this game is that sometimes matches won't even start until all players are present. Seeing as how this is almost 100% a co op game you're going to run into all sorts of people with all kinds of PC setups. The PC load times, even on a standard HDD, are far and away superior to consoles, so I wouldn't stress too much about where you download this. You'll be fine.

Exactly that ,D2 being on PC itself makes night and day diff in therms of loading times.

Not a 100% co-op game, very much standard MMO stuff you wouldn't want to co-op for and solo/soloable content. The loading times you should mainly be worried about are those you get when you travel to the tower and to different planets which are open world locations with lots of other players.
