Supers and Abilities recharge really fast in D2's current meta. Weapons are not mostly the same. There is a random roll system for weapons in Destiny 2 and there are plenty of unique combinations as well as A LOT of Exotic weapons.
As for the build system, I will admit while it's true the skill trees don't have much in the way of depth, Destiny's build crafting doesn't come from the subclass trees themselves. The depth comes from armor and weapons which you have to synergize with said subclass trees. With Armor 2.0 coming in Shadowkeep, the builds are only going to get more in depth.
Here is an example. There are a pair of gaunlets for the Hunter known as Liar's Handshake. The exotic perk for these gaunlets state that:
"Using your Arc melee ability or being hit by a melee attack will allow you to follow up with an extremely powerful melee counterpunch that will heal you."
Combine this with the top tree of the Arcstrider subclass "Way of the Warrior". The reason for this specific subclass is because it gives you three particular perks that synergize well with Liar's Handshake. They are known as Combination Blow, Deadly Reach, and Combat Flow. Combination Blow states:
"Kill an enemy with this melee ability to trigger health regeneration and increase your melee damage temporarily."
Deadly Reach states:
"Dodging increases your melee range, allowing you to lunge further to strike enemies."
Combat Flow states:
"Finishing off an enemy with a melee hit instantly recharges your dodge ability."
Liar's Handshake and top tree Arcstrider combined with the Gambler's Dodge class ability (which recharges your melee ability) available to all Hunter subclasses makes this a strong melee build that specializes in big DPS. But why stop there? Enter One-Two Punch.
One-Two Punch is a weapon perk currently found on only two shotguns in Destiny 2 as of writing this. The perk states that:
"Hitting an enemy with every pellet in a shot increases melee damage for a short duration."
So taking a One-Two Punch shotty and combining it with the Liar's Handshake build, you have one of the best DPS builds in all of Destiny.
TLDR: You obviously haven't played Destiny 2 it's current form and everything you just said shows your ignorance.
You beat me to it, I can't believe someone could be so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ignorant and say the game doesn't have any builds.
You have contradicted yourself
What, you don't also play boring, terrible games for weeks on end? I mean, I only play games I hate.
Couldn't agree more. I just hit my limit. No interest in raids at all. The rest of the game is just so bland and boring. PVP is the worst I've ever seen, including pve/pvp games. I know it's harder to do well when it's pve as well but holy crap, this is just aweful. I get why it's free.
Time wasted on Destiny dot com. Removes all the orbit and AFK tower time. It's a TRUE time spent in-game.
Classes are all the same, itemization is trash (random stats, random perks means you never know what is good for your "builds") which reminds me, "builds" in this game boil down to "I use grenades a lot" or, I use lots of melee attacks. Playing as a gunslinger, feels pretty much the same as an arcstrider, which is the same as the titan classes, and warlock classes.
The lore is the same old tired post apocalyptic humanity trying to survive. Completely uninspired, with some decent lore that is buried in cards 3 menus deep in one of two different pause screens. Oh yeah, the UI is completely console first, loaded with frivolous animations that make routine tasks like grabbing all items from mailbox, or dismantling lots of junk a pain in the ass. Same goes for cosmetics. You have to style each piece by first hovering it, right clicking, pressing S to go down to a secondary details page, hovering on the shader slot and paging through a randomly sized menu of dozens of shaders.
Season pass is lame. There's the vex offensive, which I *think* is somehow connected to the shadowkeep (by way of the Pyramid, I think?) But grinding a title (that is only available now to create FOMO) means you play a co-op mode where you compete against your teammates for kills.

You must be a child, or have the mental capacity of one. "Just so you know"......
Destiny2 is like:
It is like a group of horrible designed slot machines lined up with all those leon light on, so fancy.
But to play it, you will be forced to play the one that you don't like, and everytime you pull the spin stick, it will spike you, hurt you, make you feel hating yourself more for pulling that stick, but since you have already put your money and time in you have no choice.
Then later, soon you will found out each machine the combination is so boring, dumb and limited, and even you won, the reward will be a token to play the next slot machine.
FGS, I am not a troll, but feeling I am becoming one after playing Destiny2....XD
