If you play Nightfall
just some Info for New Players that are in Matchmaking that are playing Nightfall at 920 light level and above, when you skip over champions because you wanna rush the section, you will not get as good of gear when you finish. The Goal of Nightfall is to attempt to get a high score. To do that, the fireteam needs to take the 3-5 extra minutes to clear all the champions.

If you skip 2 champs, you will usually get 1 legendary, no exotics, and it wont be above your lightlevel.

if you skip 4 champs chances are you just wont get any good gear and it wont be above your light level.

Champions will once in while, and often, Drop Prime Engrams that are usually ABOVE your light level, if you skip them, you don't get them.

I've played quite a few matches with randoms and people are consistently skipping Champions, unless there is a barrier preventing pushing forward, in this mode.

Nightfall is not the mode to Rush in and skip Barrier and Overload Champions, like in other Strike modes.

If you wanna rush Vanguard strikes and get decent gear, play the other mode.

just a PSA, not a complaint, i have a clan so if i want serious matches ill play with them, just seems like people don't realize what they're doing.

people doing quests because you cant play the way you want

Can someone explain how this score system works, cuz game itself doesnt bother about explainations?

every enemy is worth an amount of points. when you play nightfall if you have vanilla HUD settings, you will see the point value for every enemy as you kill them. in the past, dying would reduce your multiplier, and if you go below 1.0x you will slowly lose points.

Either you're judging the post inaccurately, or I don't understand what you're trying to say.

I mention this here because Nightfall allows you to attain gear that other strikes do not, and it seems like people might just not know they're missing out.

If people are using Nightfall to finish a quest, they're missing out on the good gear in Nightfall by rushing (and they have to beat champs to finish no matter what, you can only skip up to 8 champions on this nightfall) and they're doing it the harder way, when they could grind it REALLY fast in a regular strike to finish a quest.

I think this is mostly an issue with New Light players that haven't been sherpa'd.

Kill enemys = Points. Die too often or take way too much time(like 30 Minutes) = Loose points. Also you start loosing points when your at the Boss (? or not ? Actualy cant say for sure right now if im wrong feel free to correct me).

there's a 15 minute time limit , wiping everything up to the boss only gets you to 82-84k . you can farm the boss but to get the 18-16k you need it would take at least 4-5 minutes of solid speed killing the harpies and phase 3 trash mobs.
unless you have god rolls or 940+ gear on the full team, then it's not as easy as you think

I have helped get the achievement 3 times, as a 920 non carry with gear, and we've done it in 20 mins twice and 18 another time. Im pretty sure that nightfall doesn't have time limits any more. Also we do this with a full team of 920 (our alts are higher light level) with the rights guns and mods on the guns, we managed to get 100k Were not average good, were actually pretty damn good I guess. maybe im just outta touch with how much some people are still not super good or know how to apply Overload/Shield mods to guns. Im new to Destiny but was ranked in Halo games throughout the years.

I think a lot of the people rushing Nightfall don't have the rights guns with perks, or theyre unaware of the mods they need for that mode if they dont have the perks. Cant tell you how many times in MM i was only one breaking shields.

What if I told you you could just do the 950 one and be pretty much guaranteed 100k without having to be patient or efficient AND get better rewards?

If you do nightfall with kinderguardians (like me) you will have people without a clue thanks to the game's terrible job at explaining things to new players.

And you will get us in droves in random matchmaking, because one of the New Light early quests requires you to do a nightfall to continue.

For example, after less than a week of playing and not having done even my first strike, I already have the New Light campaign stuck because I have not yet done a nightfall. Guess what, I will soon be doing one and I am utterly unprepared for it. And TBH I won't really care about the reward, since my objective this time around will be to just finish it in a reasonable amount of time because I can't play for hours straight. Certainly not pleasant for any experienced players, but that is how they designed New Light. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

im really not upset and hope I dont seem like im complaining. I get it. Im new light too. hopefully other people have the same sentiment too, and dont roast people for being a beginner with no in-game guidance

try to find a friendly group through this Forum or Discord. It will make your experience as a new player SO MUCH better. thats what i did and its been awesome since I did.

you can add me if you'd like, my group would be happy to sherpa you.

Thank you, I will add you and join the group. I was already thinking that I need to.

I tend to be a very patient player, preferring to clean out everything first (which is probably why I reached 900 on my first character in less than a week). My only concern is that it is rare for me to be free to play several hours without interruption, and I have been reading that some of these quests can take a very long time. I would hate to ruin other people's game because I got interrupted IRL.

Most quests that are long can be done solo for most parts unless its the rat king quest.
