Victory screen more than confusing and frustrating

I ended the game, playing as Axis. I managed to totally crush SU (there was some little resistance in Murmansk and in the far East, but SU was down to 180 troops. Also, the mediterranean was all Axis, so basically all of Europe and Africa, except for UK mainland and Sweden and Norway and Denmark.
I was on the edge of invading Canada and the US, when the Game was finished.
The victory result showed:
Only FRANCE (????) and Italy carved out a major victory. Italy was indeed playing quite well and was of much help for Germany, but France was totally defeated in 1940 - so what the hell?
For Germany - my main role - the result showed: Individual Worse than Historical Result.
Either I was teached the whole story of WW2 wrong OR this result screen is ridiculous, betraying me - as sober as it is, after 40-50 hours of gameplay (why can´t they give the player a little reward, a little movie, or whatever, this is painful) - of at least a written testament of my success.
