Overwatch Useless?

Does Overwatch ever proc in this game? I've tried using it 50 times and goons just run right through my arcs without anything happening. WTH?

Bug or you're doing it wrong. If the overwatch cone is checkerboard that means your merc has no line of sight.

Yes, it's very powerful, it must mean your mercs don't have line of sight to the enemies. Are you prone behind cover that obscures their line of sight, for example?

Girly with a rifle can one shot headshot random guy during overwatch from afar. Works like a charm.

or your weapons are weak and they run with full armor, for example attacking the prison, I had to use grenades mostly because I had only some ak-47... and blood ofc blood, best merc ever

You are probably ignoring the checked tiles on the overwatch cone. Those checked tiles means that you(or your enemy) don't have sight of that spot, ergo, cannot shoot it. Overwatch is pretty strong in this game but to be honest, I don't use it that much.

yeah, its awesome and works . Can you describe in what weapon and situation overwatch fails?

Overwatch is fantastic, though crouched will usually give better coverage than prone (which makes sense).

Overwatch procs fine for me. Got the Overwatchmen achievement of getting 10 overwatches in one turn the first day I played.

Without more context or some pics/vid of what issue you are experiencing it is hard to say.

Semi related question; can you set single/burst/auto fire when overwatching with an assault rifle? I haven't seen an option anywhere and I'd prefer to just do single shots if possible :/

it'd be better if you showed us some video or something. May be a bug or maybe your using it wrong or dont understand how to use it, cant really say until we see what your are experincing.

It works fine for me. In fact, i abuse this mechanic, a lot.
Create choke points, set all my team mates to overwatch the choke point, and watch the enemies get fill wit lead as they run into the killing field.

I just recruited Raven and my god her passive ability seems pretty broken too; everything in her overwatch field gets marked with auto crits from the rest of your squad!

Now and then I see a red prompt that it failed or something, but vast majority of the time if a baddie enters the cone they open fire. When used on a chokepoint it can be absolutely devestating to anyone you lure in.
