Who do you give cumbersome armor?
Do you give them to low Agi mercs bc they don't miss out much by loosing 1 or 2 free move, or high Agi mercs bc they have a lot of AP to make up for it? Obvious choice would be snipers, bc they don't move around much, but snipers don't get shot at most of the time so they don't need it.

I give it to the MG because they can never be behind cover.

Plus they're (usually) already encumbered by the MG so I'm not really losing anything AP-wise.

Snipers need the AP to move to high ground / behind cover. Once they get there, they don't really need armor because they should be far away and above the enemies.

Machine gunner, shot-gunner, or sniper for me gets the cumbersome armor. Mercs I dont expect to move a whole lot in one turn.

Fauda obviously with her talent and with ironclad the full cumbersome gear, Fidel, Barry and all shotgun experts
I wonder ( haven't test ) if Hitman would be happy with it, like an unamovible tank sniper, he would runaway ?
Or a fat ( high hp ) overwacht auto weapon/bipod, with Hold position perk

but why shotgunners? they need to move. there is even a perk that gives them free move after making a shot.

Because you wanna reach linebraker perk at the end of the force and ironclad ( 1/2 free mvt cumbersome ) is on the way; captain obvious

Shotgun build ( mine ) : FORCE ; breach and clear ( free mvt shotgun ), schock assault ( 30 % crit in da face ), ironclad (tank shotgun 1/2 mvt ), linebraker ( inspiration/kill)
AG : fast runner (mvt ), lightning reflex (héhé ), Frog leap (not that good with ironclad)

Personally the only way I'd put heavy armor on a shotgunner is the shaman's special armor (heavy, no encumbrance). Half-encumbered is still encumbered in my book.

I prefer to use breach & clear's free movement to get them back behind cover.

Not saying it's a bad strategy - I just personally prefer not getting injured at all over tanking.

Linebreaker is fine - I don't usually worry too much about morale because good tactics (including not getting hit) will raise it naturally. A couple of additional APs from high morale benefits a hit-and-hide shotgunner as much as a tank.

my current experimental build is Raven with breach & clear and Ironclad. lmg as primary. non vision obstructing grenades & uzi or lion's roar on secondary.

The two type of shotgun; Hvy and light are viable, sometime the hvy lack of mvt ( at the start of the fight when there are no frogleap cover ), by friends throwing smoke to cover him.

Blood in shotgun/melée can tavel around the entire map :steamhappy:

A build for the auto shotgun AA 12? would be ; breach & clear, recoil management, shock ass, linebreaker; and buckshot at four tiles

Could be deadly and tanky ( she take some hit sometimes with smg ) but forget the lion, i use this uzi with those shock ammo ( even vs armor ), she's the best
