Non sense.
If it was so easy and cheap you would have it in many companions RPG, but nope, so all those dev was just incompetent, sure.
More many players have a weak sense of reality.
some characters, like from the Expendables seem very nice on first look, but their ingame models are rather awful or meh at best. Also, lifeless characters... it didn´t take long for me, to remove those mods again.
And mods never ever achieve make such companions proper. Not enough writing skills, lack of vocal actiing are the biggest problem, well done 3D new models is in range of mods but then take a lot of time and it's hit in water if the mod mercs can't have proper writing and vocal acting, so it will hardly happen ever.
That's why mercs mods should be more welcomed, alas RPG players tend be greedy and can't understand value of smaller DLC, unlike for Grand Strategy players for example.
This is correct.
Considering the game was successful we will MAYBE see one or two at best official fully voiced ones, IF even that.
I will just settle for whatever gameplay expansion the devs cand come up with and more weapons (that make sense in the time period the game was set of course). These can and will be much more easily brought in with mods but i would prefer some dev additions too because i liked their work with the models, and more importantly the sounds. I don't know if modders can get proper sound samples for gunshots (ofc they can simply re-use samples from other weapons and that's fine).
Eventually with a full conversion mod, changing everything in texts and removing any vocal acting, and then creating a bunch of mercs perhaps. But such mods are huge work, team work, and require some exceptional writing talent to really achieve something.
Oh, boy! DOZENS of disconcerting AI-generated ripoffs of published characters, or copies of mercenaries from previous games with none of the personality we like them for! And what's that, you say - nine out of ten of their portraits are poorly cropped, sized inconsistently with vanilla portraits, or don't even have a transparent background? And they either use the IMP voices or are completely silent? Lucky us! Why even use the vanilla mercs at all?
Like a lot of folks on here, I too feel like the game is lacking in mercs. I would pay for DLC that adds mercs. But, they would have to be at least as good as the mercs already in the game. So, full voice acting, well written lore, interactions with other mercs, interactions with NPCs etc etc.
That's... a lot of work, and a bunch of staff for a company that's already shipped the game and are now working on other stuff.
Especially considering I'd be expecting to pay $1.99 for a merc, tops. I dont know if they can justify the work for the revenue. Maybe they can. Maybe they can't. I don't have access to their stats.
But I'd love to see more content.
It would be fun to give a petite woman a big handgun and have her aim for the groin, as she has weird reactions and says some funny stuff when she kills. :D
Cheapest MERC, poor stats but learns very fast due to high wisdom. Good long-term investment.
Also add Razor and Haywire, because they had the best chat.
