What use are Progeny?
So I got this game a when it first came out on Early Access, and one of the things that really drew me to it was the mechanic of having kids. Smutty time with a preggo mom aside, I've always loved RPGs were you have kids that are your own.

However, as I've played the game on and off, something I'm really beginning to wonder is... what incentive IS there to have a bunch of kids, or play matchmaker with the Bunny Garderie for some Grandkids? The more I play, the more I feel like the mechanic is a bit tacked on. (With all due respect to the developer, I'm sure you've worked hard on the stuff you'e already made)

I mean, here are the uses that I've found, but for one reason or another they're often rendered lacking or simply less effective.

1- Combat. But I rarely find there's any real need to switch beyond my Knight character once I've got some solid gear, which isn't the most difficult to find. Just don't see a need to switch to other party members, including the Princesses. I know it's been mentioned before that the Arcade Hack-&-Slash gameplay doesn't do it for some folks, and to be blunt I do think a more traditional Turn Based combat system would provide a lot more depth, but I understand that doesn't seem to be the developer's vision. Point still stands tho, I don't see the need to make an army out of my kids. lol

1.5- Battlesmut. Just as an add on, you COULD use them for gathering the, uh, special materials you need for some Quests. But when you already have princesses like Usnug to handle that, and can either lead to their corruption or easily be purified... again, I don't see much need to have Progeny fighting on that front. (Plus I feel gross putting my bebes through that. Just personal preference.)

2- Bypassing Hazards. So, if I find eggs or get down with princesses who have a racial resistance/buff towards the major obstacles in this game (Fire, Poison, Cold, Swimming, and Flying) I can definitely use the Progeny to get by those... for a limited time. Then I can easily find the special equipment like the Gas Mask, Aqua Lung, etc. to get passed those issues on my own. The only thing I've found I've even NEEDED another party member for is one that can fly so I can run around The Kingdom Above.

3- Heirs to thrones. So this is the only real substantial one I've seen, if you want to get one of the standing princess in your party but don't want to start a war, you can have an Heir with them to take their place on the throne so they can elope with you. Which is a nice use, but really you only need to have one for that to happen. After you have the Princess on your party, we arrive back to "why have more kids?" Aside from getting scenes about the Princess talking to the Knight about it.
(Quick point, I DO like that one of your kids with Usnug plays a part with her Route. Again, even if it's just the one kid.)

These are the only major uses (and why they just feel lackluster) I've seen for Progeny in the game that are easy to find. If I'm missing something, please let me know! I do hope that I can find more reasons to build my own little Dynasty. lol

soo far i been playing....there are 2 types of progeny...the first one are the Slaves/revived bodies and the second one are the progreny that sees you like a father.

the sons/daugthers progeny doesnt have any special stat or thing that makes them better unless you plan to breed a lot of kids searching shynies and powerfull ones.

both types of progeny(sons or slaves) can be sold for money at the slave market and i think the bourdel.....and thats pretty much it....

the progeny thing is more like pokemon XD

Yeah, and with Pokemon there's actual battling and other activities to do with them. (Also, just gonna say this, but selling the ones that see you as a father is just EW! lol)

As I said, I don't see much reason to have them other than seeing the Princess's Avatars have the preggo belly, and the few instances they have an ability to get past certain obstacles.

They are useful as ambassadors to other kingdoms in the Kobold Princess path but I will have to play through the updated game to see if they do anything else now.

You can use a skeleton progeny to win the Gazewalk and get Gazzeta, if you equip them with the lich armor or something like that

Right off the bat one they got diffrent body types and limited animations. So there is that, even though its kind of creepy to use them for that. Next up is to bypass things, you claim you don't need them fun fact though you can get many of them early on, and they carry over on a new game plus so you can use them to avoid having to farm for the items to do it yourself. Like getting wings is most tedious but using a farie is pretty easy, and now you can go hatch bird eggs as well.

But best use is heir to throne to get them off. But honestly swapping out all the freaking time is annoying equipment wise that is. My fave is a butterfly one, they can fly, and they got their own knock out powder it just makes everything that much easier for me.

Whole point of them isn't to be some tool you have to have. I mean what is the point of half the items in game if something else can do its job better? The point is to have fun and many people like this game and been backing it since long before you heard it for the fact we can knock up princess and get offspring. I never really intended to need the damn things, but I still want them. And right now naga one is pretty nice.

But really don't like them don't worry about it. Stop thinking they are there to serve some greater purpose for you. They got plenty of purpose, your just looking at them as some kind of equipment item instead of side content with no real bearing on the main game is all.

No need for hostility my dude. And fair, I have been addressing them as "tools", but that's because on the interaction part of the game, talking to 'em at your camp an all, I have no complaints. If fact I think a lot of the dialogue can be really sweet and endearing. That just leaves, imo, any other gameplay elements to actually having them feeling rather lacking, and I don't think it's wrong to desire more (for lack of a better word) stuff to do with them.

I want to make it perfectly clear: I AM enjoying this game. This is just one aspect I'd love to see fleshed out a lot more as the Dev keeps working on content.

(Also thank you for the tip on carrying over to New Game+, that's legit very useful)
naw bro naw you are using your progeny wrong if you think they are weak compared to the knight. Dual katana shadow cloaked dragon heir>>>>>>>knight in terms of combat prowess. I stuck that cloak the dumb ass ninja ♥♥♥♥♥ wanted to steal from me on my dragon progeny and gave her some katanas and now she is my go to combat unit. She cant break rocks but thats what knight with mourn hammer is for. ALSO go grab crystal princess, I promise that if you use her CTR ability, the ♥♥♥♥ off magical explosion, it will 1 shot things. I was able to 1 shot marble with it and the chicken king as well. JUST REMEMBER TO FULLY CHARGE IT OR IT WILL WASTE A BUNCH OF YOUR TIME HAVING TO RECHAGE IT AFTER LETTING IT GO PREMATURELY!!! Found that out the hard way.

How do you change progeny?

Talk to Dear at the Tavern.

Also, Dragon Progeny are pretty dang strong. If you go to rabbit Reign, you can put a male and female progeny in there and breed new Progeny. You can equip both of them with Starclips to increase the chances of a Shiny, which have higher base stats.

How do we switch to the progeny? I tried to do that with the skeleton progeny, but I can only switch to Koblod Princess and knight.

Their ment for Bordell and breeding, so deal with that. Also i recall your able to Wincest them anyway. Its a GAME FFS! do whatever! Their not real so have no rights anyway. Otherwise when you complain about it : Uninstall, let steam delete it from your acc and move on. This is to a high degree a rape game as well ya know? Or at the VERY LEAST Netorare wich you uptight western people hate.
Honestly i've played too much of this game but this is kind of my opinion, i just thought maybe i was crazy.

i've sat and waited for the... 'bunny place' to have kids to try get cool traits/looks. and so far 50+ have all been .... some how just incredibly ugly and nothing like the parents. and 90% of the time it's a trait that weakens all your stats. and i couldnt agree more honestly raising damage and having great items on the kids so the numbers show they are x4 the knight... but my knight with 0 points in attack does more. my knight has all the items easy to prevent cold, fire, swimming, etc. and i just use slime princess for flying.
its kinda grindy at this point. but again maybe i',m doing something wrong or can someone tell me why the kids that come out the bunny place carry almost 0 looks like either parent.

i also feel bad selling them to the brothel. i mean, ill buy from there to use them to try and get better looking kids.

and is it just me or is EVERY kid you make with the bunny princess identical. its been 5 in a row.

Not crazy at all man! (You're not like the guy just above you calling us Uptight Westerners, lol)
I do think the current game has a bit more to offer with Progeny. Especially with all the different personality types and a fair bit more variety in combat that I do feel like throwing a dragon bebe at the baddies is worth the while.
