Hard mode gives you more exp, so you can get more MP for customization, and is absolutely the more fun and balanced way to play the game.
I finished the game + all optional bosses with HARDEST (very significantly harder than hard mode, everything in the game gets additional attack + defense + HP) + FRAMEONE (disable normal blocking) + Hard Hits (enemies have 25% more attack rounded up), and it is still pretty easy after about chapter 4, as long as you build well with medals.
While there are no medals truly exclusive to hardmode, having the hardmode badge on saves you the berries those medals would otherwise cost, since you get them for free. On my first playthrough, I played without hardmode equipped, and I struggled greatly for berries. Not only did I rarely have enough for what I wanted or needed, but I had to worry about medals being sold by the traveling caravan. Having hardmode equipped alleviated a lot of this. More berries from battles, and the medals that are sold at the traveling caravan per boss done are gotten instead for free through Artis. You get so much out of a small boost in difficulty.
I'd say hardmode is absolutely worth it.
Playing without and playing with is like night and day. And I can still abuse bank interest, far faster than without hardmode, for obvious reasons.
the jungle is just bad in general. im finally past that and the games actually fun again
Only time i went Game Over was against the Heavy Drone B-33 and trying one of the bounties way tooooooo early.
Heck, when I repurchased the game on Steam here (originally bought it on the Switch), playing through the game again, I used the hardest code for that playthrough and still had no trouble. I don't like codes like frameone. You don't even need to dodge and hit everything perfectly all the time. You just need to know which attacks to use where and which abilities are the best, that and items can no longer be ignored. Lief's skills in general are the best in the game because freezing is an OP stat effect. Frozen Drill probably taking the number one spot and dealing like 30+ damage when you buff it enough, easily allowing you to deal 50+ damage on a single turn to bosses even on hardest difficulty.
it has been 2 months
