I hope there is a good explanation for this. Using the webcam is a very privacy sensitive matter for a game. If none none of my data is uploaded (as claimed by the game) but requiring an internet connection that is obviously not needed to play the game is fishy at best IMHO.
P.S.: The game folder also contains the file UnityCrashHandler64.exe which is known to leak private data. It can safely be renamed or deleted and the game will still run.
Took me nearly an hour of investigating to find a fix for this. I tried with three different cameras, on two different computers and couldn't get it working. Multiple different angles, lighting... Practically refunded the game because I couldn't find a solution. Thank you so much for looking into it!
Could this licensing issue be either informed in the game or fixed so license validation isn't required? I'm surprised it's happened to so little people.
can fix this soon !
- Try deleting C:\Users\username\AppData\LocalLow\Goodbye World\Before Your Eyes\webcamInfo.json and then retry the game
- Check webcam works in the “Camera” app (Windows)
- Make sure you are connected to the internet. The face tracker plug in needs to perform a one-time license check when the game starts.
- When in the camera-select menu (comes up after clicking “new game”), check that the correct webcam is selected in the dropdown list. If your camera has a light, it should turn on when selected.
- When in camera-select menu (comes up after clicking “new game”), unplug camera, wait 5 seconds, then plug back in. Then select it in the drop-down menu (if it isn't already).
- Make sure the camera is not being used or getting hijacked by another program.
- If nothing works, send us a logfile. The log file is located at C:\Users\username\AppData\LocalLow\Goodbye World\Before Your Eyes\output_log.txt, where username is your Windows user name. This can help us to figure out the root cause so we can better address the issue.
I had to disable my firewall for the face tracker plugin but it was a one-time thing. Close the game, disable firewalls and start it up again. Should work. Remember to enable your firewall afterwards!
Tried the Netflix version on an iPad and it worked perfectly, so it might be something about the Steam version. I have a feeling something on Ulsee's side is not working, because even their website (ulseetech.com) is down right now. output_log.text says the following which might be relevant:
(Filename: C:\buildslave\unity\build\Runtime/Export/Debug.bindings.h Line: 45)
Failed to initialize tracker.
I already beat the game, but this is just a heads up for people trying to play the Steam version in case someone else is having problems.
Same. several days ago was working. Today nothing helps.
Today the camera wouldn't recognize my face. Tried all the methods mentioned above - to no avail.
Requested refund.
Luckily, I *was* able to get the green box setup & play on my 2018 MacBook Air 13"... but the "Eyes of Steel" achievement won't unlock there (but "Obnoxious" did). So... problems on *both* platforms :{
