Hi!
Sad to hear that the game freezes for you - it shouldn't do like that and it works for many others with out issue.
Do you computer beat the minimum specs stated on the Steam page?
Do you have the latest graphics drivers?
Does other games run fine?
Try uninstall and reinstall the game.
Let me know how it goes :)
Ok, totally fine, sad you didn't get to enjoy the game. Sadly I can't help out that much, as the game are working for thousands of other players, so it most be some combination of the game and your setup somehow.
I hope you consider trying it out again in the future at somepoint to see if works better there :)
Thanks for giving it a try.
Bear with me, I have a story here. I bought FM the day it was released, and it ran (and still runs) without crashes. This week, I bought a new computer, yay! I discovered that my 12-year-old monitor uses a DVI pin connector while the new graphics card only supports HDMI. Back to the computer store to purchase an adaptor for five clams, no big deal.
So Windows 10 sees my monitor and correctly identifies it, and it calls the connector DVI even though it runs through an HDMI adaptor. I'm not an expert in this, but I do know that one feature of HDMI is its handshake function that has both the source and the monitor mutually agree on settings before the system boots up. If the handshake is broken, the HDMI will refuse to send a signal. That may happen if you run HDMI through an adaptor.
So now to FM. I reinstalled (and lost all of my in-game progress, ha-ha) and the start screen was set to its lowest resolution. The game looked terrible but it ran, and to my great alarm, my monitor made a loud hissing noise. Not my speakers, the monitor itself. Aaargh! I quickly switched to highest quality and the noise stopped and the game now runs normally.
My suspicion is that on the default low setting something is not right. Maybe it's a resolution that some monitors cannot support. If OP is reading this, he could try forcing his graphics card(s) to a single resolution and refresh rate.
As far as the game setup is concerned, maybe it would be a good idea to have the setup menu on a screen that doesn't have the animated map so that if the game goes to an unusable resolution or refresh rate, the whole thing doesn't crash, and so that you can go back and change the settings before any graphics are loaded. Likewise, if there is something like a .txt or an .ini file that can be editted in text so that you can manually enter your resolution and refresh rate, maybe the OP could get the game going. At the least, you might want to look at what the game does when it runs on its lowest default setting, I really do think something bad is happening with that but I don't want to risk my monitor testing it.
Thanks for reading all of this!
EDIT: I figured out the hissing. The adaptor has an exposed gold plug that generates radio interference with my speakers. Even though Windows mutes the audio, the speakers are still on.
I have a number of problems recently with starting up fireworks mania and have no idea how to solve them and can't find anything on the internet either. I get the crash every time I'm in the game in the main menu can someone help me??
Yep lets solve it, but please create your own new thread here in the community section, so we can talk about your specific problem.
Alternatively, describe your problem in the support channel or create a ticket on my Discord https://discord.gg/SzZD77p
