Well Turok actually originated as comic that dates back to the 50's. The comics were revamped into what we know from the Acclaim games in 1992.

So while this game is technically appart of the same Turok Franchise it clearly has little to do with the Acclaim game series.

This looks very much based on the original Turok, Son of Stone comics from Dell/Gold Key, and not the late 90's Acclaim continuity the other games belong too.

Although it's worth noting that the first game, Dinosaur Hunter, is pretty much entirely based on the Valiant comics of the same name, and that run was a continuation of Son of Stone.

The story seems to be similar to the original comics, but visuals... I don't know who this game is made for. People who would appreciate this art style and gameplay most certainly never heard about Turok comics.

There was a competition that allowed developers to come up with game ideas for existing franchises. I think there are 2 Turok games being made. The other one is called Turok: Legacy of Stone. I think that one is going to be a fps.

Ohh that explains this... They should have made that clear in the trailer and on steam page. Would ease the backlash a bit.

It's a top-down shooter.

After these projects fail miserably, somebody will do a fps eventually. Still waiting for a port of the 3rd by Nightdive.

I hope to god they all fail so hard the devs have to live in a van down by the river

It's not really a big deal. A fps Turok game can still be made. It's up to Universal if they want to fund a big budget Turok game.

Universal are the ones that chose to fund these indies games. The devs just came up with an idea that was possible with the limited budget provided by Universal.

This game actually is as close as you will get to the original turok as you can. They butchered this franchise when they turned it into an fps back in the 90s. for those of us who give a crap about the og comics, this game is where it's at.
