Arma 3

Hunter Six. Thanks Lato.
Ok...so first off, I've only recently started playing Arma again.
Only ever played single player..and had completed the main campaign a couple of times in the past.
So last week, wanting to start playing it again, I searched for single player campaigns etc, and found Hunter Six.

Hunter Six.

Mission End: (Cant remember exact numbers)
16 days.
Rebels killed - 350 ish
Reputation - 3000 Approx.
Intel - 3000 Approx

CIA Hostages Rescued - X2

Hunter Six Squad - 4 KIA (RIP)

Started off by doing the Humanitarian mission, there were plenty of locals to interrogate on the route to FOB Spartan to collect Aid Truck.

Stopped and spoke to first guy on way to Spartan...somewhere between Agios and Syrta....did a 2 hr interrogation...and as I walked back towards Hunter...squad shout out.. "Enemy spotted!" 4 rebels crested the hill on the road behind us...they lit the hunter up as I ran on circles, going from crouch to prone to standing, opening my inventory...etc etc.
Hunter looked like swiss cheese and 2 of my squad killed due to my long term absence noobness and forgetting controls.

Eventually picked up the Aid truck, wandering how I view all the Intel I'd collected....and decided on the medium location drop off.
On route...got ambushed near a factory and lost another 2 squad members :/ (one of them was one of the brothers)

First day...a huge learning curve and refresher...4 KIA and aid truck delivered....and realised the importance of saving regularly ;)

As I progressed through I got more and more immersed in it, then all began to make sense about the Intel... as side quests/missions started to pop as I collected more and more.
Spent days using the Hunter GMG interrogating locals and slinging 40 Mike Mike at rebels.....O'Connor with his body tracking ability proved invaluable!
Some of the rebels got absolutely overwhelmed with 40mm from 600 -1000 meters spotted on thermals :) Awesome fun!

Took out 3 AA sites, several weapons caches (2 of which I stumbled across) searched some houses...cleared IED's.....Arrested a couple of locals....but one of them (on a side mission) had been killed when I got there, so couldn't complete that. Oh...and did some Recon missions.
I killed the priest...ssshhhh...400 meters away with the 6.5 Marksman rifle with suppressor attached.....What Priest Commander? ;)
Escorted the President sometime around day 12 after I'd done all of the above, to make sure the area was pretty clear of threats.

Dont really wanna spoil it for folks, but without saying to much, I loved the dynamic-ness of it...for example...IED's being layed on previously cleared routes...and lots of other surprises.

Around day 10 or so I returned to FOB Apache with the AMV-7 after a few days on Ops....lads were knackered so I let them rest at Apache and I returned to Olympus alone using the Little Bird transport for the first time.
Got some rest, and then more squad members joined me in the Little Bird back up to Apache.
On the way there couple of the guys started firing at a Technical, I couldn't see it my side...we landed fine and disembarked.
As we made our way over to the AMV, and the little Bird was over the horizon making it's way back to base...I heard the unmistakable sound of a .50 BMG firing long bursts in the distance.

Yep...that'll be that Technical we passed then...soon after "Mayday Mayday....we're going down!"
The crash site was only about 2 km from Olympus... a mission was generated to secure the site.
We headed straight there in the AMV and met the Technical on the way...needless to say It was an awesome revenge kill...put about a dozen cannon rounds through it.

I was seriously impressed with that crash event and everything that proceeded it ;) Again...dont wanna say to much and spoil it.

Anyway...after we'd successfully escorted the President..we went and rescued the Hostages without too much trouble...11 of us RTB in the AMV! Just enough room for the Hostages.

Then the last day went to find the 'Messiah'.
Me and one of the Snipers took out a 12 man patrol from 700 meters at the location...and then I shot who I thought was the Messiah..but when we went to check bodies and clear up...the mission still hadn't passed.
Obviously not at this location then...maybe he's at the other poss location I thought....the suddenly the Sniper shouts "Rifleman 200 meters back!" ......WTF!? There ain't no one showing on the map!.... BOOM!!! his rifle report actually made me jump irl lol...."Target neutralised!"
Ehh? Still dont see a body marked on the map...so went In the general direction and there's his body....The Messiah...mission complete... and credit to the Sniper dude for spotting him with his tinnitus endusing rifle and ridiculous over-kill at 200 meters!

Hunter Six has got me fully back into Arma....and the game has well and truly grabbed me by the bollocks and got my attention again.

Throughout the duration of playing this epic mission I added a few mods to my game (something I'd never done before with Arma)
JSRS. Enhanced Soundscape. And the Blastcore Standalone (Edited) mod. (Credit to the Authors)

Hunter Six gave me vehicles and opportunities, that id never used in game before, and the addition of those mods, together with me actually learning how to play the game correctly again, made like I said, one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had in 30+ years of gaming.

I'd never seen so much of Altis before...and made me realise what a stunning map it is...places I'd never been too.
Altis actually reminds me a lot, and brought back memories of when I was on Exercise Lion Sun (British Army Exercise) in Cyprus back in the 90's. Lots of it reminded me of Croatia and Bosnia too...from OP Grapple/ OP Resolute.

Thanks again Lato!

Keep it up man...hope to see more campaigns from you
