VTOL toggle controls [Solution found]
Please oh please! Add an actual keybind to toggle the VTOL. Not everytime do I want to take off vertically, and not every time I want to land horizontally (I can't even land vertically because by the time I'm slow enough for it to automatically switch to vertical, I'm already struggling to sustain flight and might as well have landed normally anyway)
And it's just infuriating to hae a lack of control over something so important. I absolutely loathed VTOLs in Arma 2 despite loving both flying planes and helicopters for the same reason. The old fix was "Auto hover" but since that was replaced now in VTOLs to vectoring, there's no way to force vertical.
Please add a new binding for toggle, because I really just can't enjoy the new VTOLs how they are.

EDIT: After searching and finding a video that explained the full mechanics, I find that the new system actually uses flap controls when vectoring is turned on.

I wish this was explained better, but, it works to a degree I can enjoy.

Autohover turns the rotors to VTOL at any speed. a non-vertical takeoff is not really an option, the rotors full forward impact the ground.

Aaand you didn't read it. Auto hover cannot be enabled on the new VTOLs, at least, I haven't found the option. "Vectoring on/off" has replaced it, which just uses the propellers / jet's rotation to pitch and roll better. Lastly. That's only with the Osprey, the CSAT's VTOL uses small jets at tail of the craft instead, and can very well point horizontal, much like the AV-8B in Arma 2.

The AV-8B could never hover in Arma 2

That's nice. But it was more a point about how the CSAT Vtol is in comparison to the AV-8B. Being able to go horizontal on ground without breaking anything, since he said "the rotors full forward impact the ground."

And IRL, the AV-8B can hover, and if this is meant to be a realistic Mil-sim, it should replicate that.

Some extra things.
@Zapy When the Osprey in A3 spawns, it spawns with the propellers somewhat diagonal. Though they wouldn't be able to go full-forward as you said. It would be possible for a Short Take Off with the propellers still facing diagonally, then automatically switching full-horizontal once above a certain altitude-from-ground (Perhaps 15 or 25m).

@Darkstar What you said actually just proves my point more. If Arma 2 had a toggle button, you'd be able to hover in vertical mode without it auto-switching.
yea sorry, last I played it was just auto-hover. Just checked and it has changed, but its basically the same. Vectoring on = auto-hover on basically. With the default semi-tilt rotor it can preform a short rolling takeoff, but probably not what you are looking for. It would be nice for better control of the engine tilt, like an AFM version for the VTOL.

From my testing Vectoring only locks the position. So if you're already in vertical,it'll stay, but if you're in horizontal, it won't change back at all.

I've encountered same behavior. Because I play on HOTAS, it took me a while to see that when I press shift (accel) when vert is active it actually changes to the vert.

hold shift and press W take off like plane.. Hold W take off like helicopter. Easy.
