AI Convoy System
So anyone who's spent time playing with AI using Zeus and Eden will know that trying to set up a convoy is a pain in the arse. Even when setting a speed limit, Hunters seem to want to run ahead with their relatively light arms into a field of T-100s while trying as hard as they can to flip eachother over, the HMMVs suddenly decide they want to mate with the Slammers, the Marshals hold a demolition derby where every other unit (and sometimes eachother) is the target, and the quad bikes get the great idea of playing chicken with heavy armor. Putting them into a squad and setting it for column doesn't help either, as having multiple classes of vehicles trying to stay in formation just doesn't work, and that's IF they even try. I propose that vehicles can be sorted into a Convoy, where vehicles make a concerted effor to stay in a single or double file line (As road width, unit availability, unit size, and user settings allow), match speed with the slowest vehicle present in the convoy, and communicate when the lead car has trouble with an obstacle to prevent a 20-car/tank/apc/otherbigexplodeything pileup.

(P.S. In joint armor/infantry options, once those hunters smell blood they kind of just want to run over everyone, friend or foe. Mind giving them a talk-to, yeah?)

I totally agree with ya something has to be done with getting these damn AI to simply follow the leader same speed no speed ups or erratic turns. Unless of course they are under fire where they would try to get in a better defensive position.

I've been searching the web for any answer to fix this and just see the same problems with others. i'm using the this forceSpeed 1; script on all my tanks they do at the start stay the same speed but all of a sudden 1 or 2 speed up spin around or even stop for no reason. The lead guy usually does this too often.

I've tried all setting combinations 'careless, safe, in and out of formation, setting driver commander ranks to officer in all vehicles. Even tried putting that script just in the group init.

OH it's all good I'll do something else than spending time on making a convoy do what they are meant to do. :)

Actually when I think about it and it sure takes a while for those gears to turn if the script is set to 1 on all vehicles wouldn't work cuz depending on the vehicle the speed would be different. so change that 1 variable up or down depending on the vehicle and get the right speed for them all AHAH!!!! Think I'm on to something. lol

If you guys are still having trouble I use a convoy script that works really well. The only real problem is the players can't be in any of the convoy vehicles.

Easy fix for that was to just follow the last car on your own.

Let me know if you want the script and I'll try and dig up the link I used. I wrote down all the links to scripts I use just gotta find them

Hey, can you shoot that script over to me? (Still think it'd be nice to have it in the base game, though. Oh well.)

it works really well once you figure it out. You dont have to start it from the init you can have it in its own activation .sqf file and have it start with a trigger
