Arma 3

How is the offline gameplay?
Basically where i'm at for now i have terrible internet. (no multiplayer possible)
I'm wanting to know if the game has a solid single player campaign.
Is the singleplayer open world/sandbox?
Are there side missions i can do?
I read the campaign is rather short, is this true?

The 50% off looks appealing, and i'll take advantage of mods/multiplayer at a later date after i move, however if the single player is skimpy i might just wait.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply!
Not much scripting knowledge here, but i'll keep that in mind.

Can you elaborate on the side quests? While scouting sounds fun, are there other side quests to just randomly go out and do?

In other words, in between missions are you able to go out in the open world and find things to do? Random AI to kill, things to blow up? And is there any incentive?

My social life doesnt involve games, so SP is big part for me and have played that through 3 other armas upto and icluding A3, vanilla stuff is good but the real gem is mods and the editor, very easy to learn, dont need to learn scripting to run the many avaible scripts already out to use, and when you've played around a bit look up ALiVE mod, once learned this is the ultimate tool for SP and MP missions.

Lets say you like the 6.5mm rifle, but you shoot too many rounds in panic or suppression. So when you get back to base you realise you dont have enough ammo for the next operation, and the breifing is 2 hours away.. Thats when you hear some people at base talk about an enemy armory nearby. Infact you dont even have to hear them talk about it, you can just leave, and find it on your own. Then you can load a pick up with all the gear you need, and return to base with your resupply.
That is just one example of the types of side missions. There are others like seconday objectives in some missions, but I love the scouting in between missions. You can even go to areas of previous operation and check them again, or go to your next missions area ahead of time, and get a feel of the layout.

Now that sounds fun! I think that has just about sold it for me lol
Thanks for all the info!

Thanks! The editor sounds fun, though i've never been big on editors in games. I just get tired with the tedious stuff when editing/creating somthing. Just my personal preferance, but i'll def have a look at it!
