Arma 3
Is the game kind to lower end laptops?
I am currently waiting to get a higher end computer and in the mean time I am wondering what kind of performance I can get with my laptop. My laptop was not custom built or anything and it is mainly used for non-gaming related things. Its specs are:
  • Intel Core i5-4210U dual core 2.4GHz
  • Intel HD Graphics 4400 up to 1700MB Dynamic Video Memory
  • 8GB DDR3 L Memory (8GB RAM)
  • 1TB HDD
If it is even possible to run ARMA 3 on those specs what kind of performace could I expect and what are the recommended settings?

The MINIMUM GPU specs are;

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB
ATI Radeon HD 3830 512MB

I think your graphics card is not meeting the minimum requirements for Arma 3.
I hope you are able to enjoy Arma 3 when you get your higher end computer, it is a lot of fun.

Thank you for the help. For now I'll stick to Arma: Gold Edition until my new PC arrives
My old laptap (Intel Core 2 duo @ 2.5ghz with integrated graphics card with 2gb vram and 4gb dedicated ram) ran this game at 30fps with all settings to the lowest for about 20-30 minutes before the processor/gpu got so hot because the cooling sucked on that computer and the game crashed/froze and required a full restart of the PC.
Do with this info as you wish, I think you will be fine if you turn down some settings.

My old amd.... amd 640 propus, 4gb ram, hd 6790 gpu... ran this game at 20 fps on 99% of servers. The limiting part for me was the cpu. This game only seems to really care about the 1st thread of your cpu. I gave it a overclock and could then decently run the shooting range missions. but MP was still pretty bad.
