Yes, if you are planning to play on vanilla PVP and PVE servers. As most use DLC items that give alot of advantges compared to vanilla weapons. Also using any DLC restricted items means having ads for the DLC cover your entire screen while using them which makes them extremely hard to use.

depends on your planned way of playing. playing a lot on public server-> yes,you will need DLC to not get nag-screens or get booted because you don´t have the DLC Map

playing only with buddies/friends: you can totally ignore any DLC and work around any restrictions by using mods instead of DLC content

I did, you all said that you do need it if you want to play on public vanilla servers, but some people say that the majority of servers don't need DLC, are the ones that don't need DLC non-vanilla or something?

TL;DR: Apex is required for any server where the scenario/game mode is set on Tanoa or where the scenario/game mode has had Tanoa scenery objects included on a non-Tanoa terrain, all other DLC contents are subject to the ads and restrictions (can't normally get into DLC vehicle crew seats -- passenger seats work -- or pick up DLC weapons, although both can be scripted around).

Alright, this question needs a detailed answer.

For the most part, you won´t have problems joining public servers even if they require the smaller DLC´s since the only negative aspect you will have are the really big nagscreens that "remind" you to buy them. I´d have to lie and say i didn´t pull these numbers from my rectal area, but lets say 75% (to have some numbers to work with) of the public servers that run popular gamemodes don´t do this exclusively on TANOA (which is the bigger part of the APEX DLC) BUT in case your favorite server includes it at any point you´re not able to play on it anymore.

Basically, you can play what you want wherever you want but to be totally on the save side and never stand in front of a locked door so to speak, you´ll need at least the APEX DLC, even if the overall percentage of servers running the map is lower than vanilla/mod maps&content. Also, you will have to live with these nagscreens in case you´ll happen to run into a looted weapon that is part of a smaller DLC (they are kinda annoying and could cost your current life in a heated situation).

I hope this explains it a bit better, still won´t make the decision easier i bet

TL/DR: not having ANY DLC will put restrictions on your ability to join servers and use gear, the gear part (while annoying) is easy to navigate around but a server hosting Tanoa means a locked door you can´t open until you own it aswell.

Thanks, I guess for now I'll just buy the base game then get the DLCs later on because I don't have enough for both.
