ArmA 3 Armory - Inventory sizes and carrying capacities
Charts with these values exist since the release of ArmA 3, but I couldn't find one that isn't outdated or incomplete or both. So I decided to create one by myself.

Carrying capacity determines how much stuff you can put in a vest, a backpack or an ammobox while inventory size determines how much space an item consumes when it is stored there. Mags and grenades only have an inventory size while the trunk of a vehicle only has a carrying capacity. Vests and backpacks on the other hand have both.

When the inventory size of an item is smaller than the carrying capacity of another one, you can store it there. However, there are exceptions. The medikit, the toolkit, explosive satchels, AT mines, rockets and missiles require a backpack while rifles using larger cartridges than 6,5mm, belt-fed LMGs and launchers need a vehicle for transport.

Maximum weight for all soldiers has been reduced to 1000 with patch 1.54. However, it's not a hard cap any more. When stamina is disabled you can carry around as much as you like and even with stamina you can still move although at snails pace.

Thank you for posting this!

Helpful info for anybody.

If you could find the armor values of the uniforms and vests and add that as well you would be a legend....and give us something to quote to the occasional individual who makes a topic complaining about why the target he is shooting at it dosent die and that makes the game bad eg eg.

Note that all SMGs and assault rifles will fit in a backpack with sufficient available space while all DMRs/MGs with the exception of the MXM and MX SW and all anti-materiel rifles will not.

@ Theo Hardmeier: Interestingly enough, testing by Dslyecxi and CHKilroy led to a conclusion that apparently angle and depth of penetration also makes a difference in damage dealt.

When I hear that I remember the other topic I posted in...a user brought up how he thought a certain marksman sniper uniform was stronger then the normal one (In VA they have same armor value) and that it seems like pay to win...this sort of info on a sticky thread on the general discussion thread would be useful. At least stop misinformed players scaring potential new players away from the game due to false 'bugs' and the like.

I'm going to update this list with the massive changes that were done in version 1.54.

The new values might look like they contain typos, but they won't.

Most of the guns that use larger cartridges than 6,5mm are now much heavier than before. These changes seem to be connected to the new "Stamina"-system that replaced the old "Fatigue"-system. However, the new in-game mass of these guns is in no way related to the weight of their real-world counterparts, nor do they seem to follow any kind of logic.

I'm not a big fan of these changes and if you liked the unmodded Arma 3 gameplay prior to version 1.54 chances are you won't like them either, but for now we are stuck with them. After all there's still hoping they were done in advance of the upcoming expansion and aren't meant to exist as a standalone solution.
How do you figure out things such as this?
StormhawkV Jun 30, 2016 @ 2:25pm
Most of the data can be extracted from the files with Arma 3's own modding tools, but some DLC assets need to be put in a container with known capacity which is then filled with stuff. After substracting the weight from the container's capacity you get the weight of the DLC asset (rifle, scope, whatever).

Can you explain to me how to get a VR suit i understand u need to buy something for it but i dont know what where to buy or the price
StormhawkV Apr 26, 2017 @ 9:02am
No, the VR Suits are part of the base game but they are intended for VR training simulations, so you won't find them in most multiplayer modes or usermade scenarios. However, they should be available in the Virtual Arsenal and characters wearing them can be found in the editor in the tab "Men (Virtual Reality)" for all three factions.

Thank you so much for this list! I still use it on a multiple times a week basis :D
