Getting AI-Squad to jump out of an plane (Paratroopers)
Hello guys, I'm trying to get a Squad of AI soldiers to jump out of a flying airplane.

But I can't get them to do it.

I tried it with several activation commands for the trigger (It's a simple one, BLUFOR just has to be present there nothing else) but not a single one worked.

I'm pretty new to mission making and I'm making missions for my Clan, but I want to achieve more than just the standard "Squad spawns on the ground, goes somewhere, shoots some guys, mission accomplished"-stuff.

So, could someone point me to a source, where I could find the required information to get it working or could explain it to me by himself step by step?

The only requirement is, that it functions without any external scripts or special mod-waypoints.
I just want to achieve it via the vanilla ingame methods.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer :)

PS:

Here is a screenshot of the error message I get ingame and another screen of the waypoint with the commands in the activation line, Para1-4 being the single guys in the squad.

If it is possible to give the order for the whole squad and not the single guys, it would save me a lot of writing, that would be great :)

This video covers a few useful functions for a similar thing to what you're asking - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QBUQ8JKfuM However, I don't recall whether or not it covers just getting AI to jump from an aircraft without being grouped to a player who ejected - hope it helps either way.

Sadly, it doesn't help, since I want them to jump out of a flying plane, not an helicopter, which has landed (I alrdy know, how to achieve that).

I used this method.

In the Airborne Group's Waypoint, I used "Getout" Waypoint Type.

In the Helicopter's waypoint I placed this in the Waypoint "On Act"

{_x action [""Eject"", HindA1]} forEach units GRPHindA1; {_x leaveVehicle HindA1} forEach units GRPHindA1;

The Waypoints were NOT synced and this method worked perfectly for me.

Was the Helicopter flying? If yes, I'll try this out, maybe it works on flying planes too :)

PS: Who is GRPHindA1? Is it the variable name of the paratrooper squad?

Yes the Helicopter was flying. This method worked for planes too.

Yes, GRPHindA1 = Airborne troops.

I spent hours trying to get them to do what You've been trying. For ME, this was the Best method for getting the airborne drop to actually execute as planned. Just remember, the speed of the vehicle will be important. If it's going too fast, the troops will collide & kill each other. lol.

Remeber to place the Waypoint for the Airborne Troops and the Waypoint for the Plane near each other. DO NOT snyc.

Eureka! Thank you very much it worked!

You should put this info up in an guide, I was looking for hours without sucess before I opened up this thread!

lol. I used this method in ARMA 2 for my SP missions I made. Thankfully ARMA 3 accepts the old scripts/commands & everything I learned in ARMA 2 I'm using in my SP ARMA 3 missions.
Like you, I spent HOURS researching, trying to get an airborne drop to work.
Have fun & take care!
